ab ,
I am truly sorry to here of such news .

Many years ago there was a guy that rode with a bunch of us and we would meet every night in the Summer and ride late into the night.

One night he didn't show up and I soon learned that on his way home the night before he crashed and died.

This was back when none of us wore any protective gear , in fact I think there was a no Helmet Law that had just gone into effect in Ohio that year.

I hope Sam didn't suffer and although you are suffering his loss, maybe there is some thing positive lesson learned from late night riding.

It's fun ...but very dangerous.

RIP   SAM.

Here's the link to the news article:

I certainly hope alcohol wasn't a factor as he went off the road at 3am.

Today around early 3am, lost a good Ducati 916 rider friend due to a motorcycle accident.  He was awesome friend, upbeat always and up for a good ride.  We had spent last night with 3 other riders riding Hocking hill around 6pm and then around town etc and then hang out with bunch of riders at a top of parking deck till 5 in the morning.  It is still unreal.

Rest In Peace Sam !

Was he on a 916 or 996?

News article from the state patrol says 996. Also, accident time was midnight and not 3am.

Sir, I posted it after returning from the hospital where we found out the fateful news.  So forgive me if the facts of the exact time or bike make (996) is wrong in my original post.  I was sharing a sad news.

As for hocking hill, we rode hocking hill at 6pm Tuesday (previous evening) and returned to town by8 PM on Tuesday.  Then a few of us then had the greatest moment that I will always remember just sitting on top of parking deck hanging out and just having a good conversation on all sort of topics until the morning 5 AM.  It is just sad to remember that he is no longer with us now.  We truely enjoyed Sam and we miss hearing his dry clutch sound and know that he was nearby.

We do not mix alcohol and bikes.  We ride because we love to ride long distance and the twisties as much as possible.  It simply was an accident where somehow (Only God knows), he lost control of the bike and ditched the bike and was slid and thrown into a freaking small wishing well covered in stinking stones next to a tree.  It not like he just hit a tree as the stupid article makes it sound to be.  Sam was one of the most experienced and cautious riders around that we all gravitated towards due to his +ve up beat attitude all the time and always full of smiles.

We miss Sam. RIP.

R I P, always sad to hear these things.

Most of us would want to go doing what we love, but that doesn't make it any easier.  Cry
