I currently have the stock rear-sets but was wondering if after market rear-sets would improve the vibration. I rode a friends BMW F800 S and I was jealous of the lack of vibration his bike displayed. That's where jealousy ended thou. So those of you with aftermarket ones, please chime in.

I thought you were going to state that you have aftermarket rear sets. I can tell you that after installing my rizoma's, I feel vibration in my feet. I didn't notice it at all when stock. In fact, I double checked to ensure everything was installed properly!
Maybe its just me or maybe its just Rizoma rear sets. Perhaps those with other brands can chime in. I'm curious to know as well.

The vibrations are the feeling of an L twin. It's the experience you signed up for buying a Ducati
The stock rearsets have rubber bushings on the mounting points, so they absorb vibes.
Aftermarket rearsets don't have the bushings, so they transmit more vibrations.
The vibrations won't get lessened (not sure why they should, the goal is to feel the bike)

Pretty certain the S&P has bushings as well but will double check.

Not true. When you remove the stock footpeg hangers you also remove the integrated rubber bushings mounted within. I've got the Rizos and didn't notice any change in vibration one way or the other.

Yeah, you're right. I doubled checked my install after reading this thread and all looks fine and proper. I still feel vibrations with the rizoma's, but, I swear I didn't feel them with the stock parts.  Its not like the vibration is bad, I mainly feel it at certain rpm's but its noticeable. |

Just ordered the Sato Racing sets from Dan at Kyle Racing. What a pleasurable experience. No wonder he does so well.
I was thinking that maybe the fixed pegs might help with vibration. Few less joints to intensify the shacking of the beast. Will try to post some results.

Installed the Sato's and I have to say that I have mixed feeling.
The vibrations are worse but the position is better in the twisties but a bit more cramped on the highway. They look very nice but scratch easily. Be careful if any of you plan on installing them.
Will ride for a while before making a final judgement.

Personally I don't mind the vibrations, but I just noticed I felt them after installing the rizoma's. It's not a big deal (other than it makes my feet feel slightly itchy), especially as the bike itself vibrates like a mofo anyway. Today, I noticed when I feel vibrations, I just need to put my weight on my feet and it goes away. |
