Frame Sliders - Buy Motovation - Lowsided

Gents-
I had the full size (through bolted) puck motovation sliders on when I lowsided up at NHMS (the guy in front of me dumped 4 quarts onto the track).
My bar end, 5/8s of the slider and the sato foot peg took the fall. What saved the tank was the slider. I am replacing them as having measured, its the 5/8s I lost that was the diff between rash on the tank and not a scratch on the Arrow pipes or the tank.
(You get used to the way they look and can kick your legs up on them during long rides)
But they are all about function.
Just passing on the info.

I'm glad you're okay. Sorry to hear about the lowslide.
This is why I'm glad I have frame sliders and axle sliders on my bike. I just HOPE I never need to 'use' them.

I have the speedymoto through frame engine sliders and barends but nothing on my axels.
Just curious, did you axels take any damage in the fall.

Good to know. I will be heading to the track in a few weeks and I want my bike to be well protected.

I will chime in to this discussion. I took a spill with Motovation sliders on too, and I was so thankful that they saved my bike. I wish I could say mine was at the track, but it wasn't. I had just installed my carbon fiber SC Project GP evo exhaust pipes (also purchased from Motovation). I went out for my first ride on the town with my new pipes (baffle removed oh course
). I was so amped up by the roar my engine put out that I attempted to pop my first wheelie in a neighborhood. Well, next thing I know, the rear tire lets loose on me (user error), and the bike went sliding on the left side, and I went sliding on my bike. Thank god it didn't run into a car that was parked on the side of the street or me. All I know is that I immediately got up ran to the bike, and slowly picked it up, dreading what I was going to find on my new bike.
I expected some major damage. Luckily, there was no damage to my new exhaust pipes, or any other frame damage. I had Motovation sliders in all areas (frame, axle, swingarm) except for the bar ends (Rizoma). The frame, rear axle, and bar end all absorbed damage by the fall. The only damage I had is that I slightly cracked my left tank panel (the wheel whipped to the left, broke the steering adjustment bolt ,smacked the panel and the force cracked it by the air vent), and frayed my kickstand sensor wire, but all in all, I was really pleased with the results.
So, long story short, there is my recommendation for those sliders. Now, you can tell me how much of a jackass I was for trying to pull a wheelie....

I got the Moto's too, frame and fork only. Nice to hear both of you were ok and the bikes as well. Either of you have any pics?

Haha, great story. Everyone has something or other like this to tell about. I can just see you now like "YEA these pipes sound SICK oh shit lets WHEELIE thats an AWESOME IDEA" about ten seconds later "OH SHIT not such a good idea, I don't know how to do a wheelie" crash.
Good to hear you were ok and more importantly the bike was ok as well.

No pics for me. I never took any because I would rather forget it happened
As I mentioned, I didn't get any rash on my tank or exhaust either. The only reason I got a slight crack in my tank panel is because the wheel snapped left, and broke the little bolt that keeps the bars from making contact with the tank. So, it pushed my vent in (which is easily fixed), and put a slight crack around that area. It's pretty minor though, because I didn't even notice it for a few weeks. the swingarm slider took some damage too. Who knows if that one really prevented anything or not. All I know is that I had just paid $850 for my exhaust and I was ready to shed a tear if I messed it up after one day, lol.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it went. The other thing that pissed me off is that I had bought two different pairs of leg armor to try out. That night I happened to not wear any of it. Of course, that is the night I go down and get a nice strawberry on my knee to take home as a consolation prize.
Actually the most annoying part of the situation is that somehow I severed the kickstand wire. So, when I got the bike up, I was ready to take off and leave my bad karma behind. When I put the bike in gear though, it kept dying. So, I had to cut the whole wire, find out which wire was the ground and temporarily ground it to my crankcase screw.
Oh course all parts come from Italy, so I had to wait a few weeks on it. In the meantime I just rode around with it rigged. Well I think something was a little loose, because I had a few times on the highway where my engine just completely died while I was doing like 70 mph. Annoying...
Lesson learned.

I made my son instal sliders on his VTR 250 this saved his bike from a lowside due to desiel fuel
spill in a corner
No tank engine or major damage just a bent gear selector and a smashed bar end mirror
wore down his boot and draggin jeans wore through on his knee
+1 for protection.
