esad = eat sh!t and die

Yeah, so I wanted some damn app. It whined about me needing to update my iPown software. So there's this macbook I bought just to update my damn iPown, right? Yeah, so I logged in to it and got the latest iTunes to update my iPown.

Yeah, it bricked on the update. Eff you crApple!!

Turns out that you need to use the supplied-with-the-iPown usb cable. Because not all cables are created equal.

As soon as it's available, I'm getting the Samsung Galaxy. (or anything android)

Thank you for viewing my rant.

I downloaded the latest version of Itunes a week ago, never thought anything about it until last night, when I went to download a song and discovered that my entire music library was gone.

5000+ songs

just gone

I spent an hour trying to reload from my external hard drive with very little luck. I was able to get the library back into my documents, but can't get the folder to migrate back into Itunes. I'll be calling crApple today.

Seems like every time I update iTunes, I've got an issue to deal with. right now, for example, my iPod won't interface with my car stereo. I went to Apple hoping for greater ease of use than Microsoft products. All I've got is the same crap at twice the price. make the beast with two backs Apple.

i'm assuming you're on windows because that's not the default location of the itunes library on a mac.

you can't just drag the folder into itunes?

I felt the same way until I unlocked my phone.  I constantly had bugs in Itunes and now that I'm unlocked I stay away from updates - problem solved.  It seemed to me that every update to Itunes, phone or Ipod restricted the devices even more, as if it could be more restrictive right?

I think you actually have the ability to download them again without paying. I think my wife mentioned this.

I hate my ipod. I use my blackberry for music now.

make the beast with two backsnig proprietary bullshit software and rip off prices.

www.gomusic.ru is the place to download music. It is $0.09 a song or a dollar 15 an album.

slightly cheaper than I-make the beast with two backs.

Most of what was lost was downloaded from CD's. Figuring out what I lost is gonna be the hard part (That, and feeding CD's into the burner every waking minute for the next 3 weeks).

itunes itself isn't file-destructive. i've seen a corrupt itunes database, but the files were still intact. are you sure it didn't just create a new database?

So after two phone calls and an hours work, I've got most of what I lost back into Itunes. Still missing about 590 songs. Trouble is, I don't know which songs are still missing.
I'm going to have to compare my Ipod songlist with my Itunes songlist to figure it out. Not tonight, maybe this weekend. I'm working two jobs right now, and just do not have time for this shit.

I used spirit to jailbreak my iPhone last night and I am so happy I did it. Was trippy to SSH into my iPhone and browse the filesystem. :-) Wish I had done this from the beginning! Now I can use my phone and not be interrupted by a text message ... it pops up on top of what I'm doing and I can reply and it goes away. SWEET.

Plus I really dig transparency...

rulz. http://forums.macrumors.com is the DMF of the iphone... amazing resource of info.
