A Most Magnificent Monster

« on: June 02, 2010, 11:36:11 AM »

I have come into a bit of extra dosh and pretty much have all the bling on the bike I want so the next step is to change the color of the wheels.  My S2R 800 (red w/red frame) has the white ones...perfectly acceptable, but a tad "soft" for my taste.  First choice is black, but I'm thinking maybe going for something a little different.

Gold:  sort of Euro-trashy, but sharp (and I like the way the SS look with gold frame and wheels)

Bronze:  for that 60's Campagnolo magnesium wheel look (looked great on Ferraris)

Red:  Red on red on red.  Mucho, but macho!

Dark Dark Gray:  Kinda gunmetal-gunship gray...dark, without being black

Silver: light gray/silver, matches the other mechanical bits

Yellow:  just sayin

Boobeez:  it's required

Any examples welcome!!

Red is too much - a Monster can't handle it with red frame and body work as well.
Gold - maybe....
Silver/grey - good idea, but I think it wouldn't be very interesting.

So, for me, black is it. I should have voted boobies, but forgot.

PS
How much extra money? Carbon looks good Evil

Your bike has almost the same color combo already.

Black, as a second choice. Naturally.

Gold is nice
Bronze looks too stock, and itsnt poppin
Red on red is nasty.
Dark grey eh. Smoke color? maybe
Silver and yellow... WHAT YOU SMOKING SON!!!!

Id go for Dark matte black, or Something between gold and bronze.

Black rims on a red frame/tank bike with white striping does NOT look good.  Carbon or dark gray maybe, but not black.

I agree that black will not look good on a red bike with white stripes.
I painted the white wheels on my red/white S2R1000 silver. I usually like silver wheels on everything,
they looked killer on the red/silver MV agusta brutale... But it sucked on my monster. I wished I had left them white.

Gold would look fantastic - I did gold on my red streetfighter and I love it!

Good luck and post a pic when you get it done.  chug

Hmm... i forgot about that white stripe... it does mess around with the color scheme. It would go with a black wheeled bike.

But if you removed that white stripe it would look AWESOME.

withit, im clueless,

It is a hard choice because it's the only other item(s) you can paint on your monster.
I went for somewhere between Anodised gold and bronze when I had mine done, although you can't see it well
there is also a 3mm black wheel stripe painted.

Love the bike matty! I assume those are titanium pipes because of the color change but I thought titanium was shinier?

Yep Titanium system, it's reasonably shiny but nowhere near polished stainless so they don't shine in sunlight the same way.
