Recommended stand for Monster 695?
«
on:

I'm looking for a stand for my '08 Monster 695. It resides in my garage on the kick stand, but I'd like to give it some more stability as well as be easier to roll around so I can move the car.
I've heard about different companies, like Pitbull and T-Rex. I'm not sure if their stands are more for the Ducati SBK's or for bikes like my Monster.
Can anyone provide my noob self with some recommendations? Does a front or rear stand matter? Thanks!

you cant operate a front stand without a rear stand. ( well if you really wanted to you can, u just need to be really careful.
TREX is cheaper than Pitbull. They both work fine for normal use but u just cant beat the quality you get from a pitbull. I really like them if your going to be using it a lot or just perfer to have something solid that will last a lifetime.
i have both pitbull and t rex.

Sounds like you want a lift on castor wheels.

Normal front or rear stands won't make the bike easier to move. They are really made to be work stands. besides the one Rocketman liked to there's some other bike swivel and castor systems out there if you do some hunting.
if you're looking for normal stands - Pitbull is probably the biggest name. There's also powerstands

- For a 695 you'd need a rear stand that fits bikes without spools (unless you've added them)

I remember that frame stand, posted about 6 or 7 months ago I think. It was on wheels and the guy was spinning his bike around like a top.
I have a Pitbull rear stand, I dig it, though it's such a simple operation I can't imagine another brand would not the accomplish same exact thing. As stated before, you'd want the unspooled DSS model (unless you've spooled).
Some front wheel chocks have proven to be very sturdy, seem easy to use well, no rear stand required.
None of these of course make maneuvering the bike any easier though.

though not cheap - I've got a Baxley front chock and it's worth the cash. Roll the bike right in, no need to fiddle with grabbing your stand and manuvering the bike. If you're parking in the same protected (like a garage) spot just leave the chock down and use it to park the bike. Besides ease there's a side benefit that the bike takes up a bit less room as it's standing vertical.
But as said - if the budget is limited a rear stand has the most value since it can be used to do work on the bike like chain maintenance etc

go with the spool one and install spools. its much better than just letting friction hold your bike.

How?
I presume you need to drill and tap the swingarm. I'm leery of just tapping into relatively thin sheet. Or is there bracketry available to do this?
I'm yet to buy a stand for my bike - I've been using car chassis stands to support it thus far - but am leaning toward one of the single sided swingarm ones that goes through the axle, for no other reason than because of the whole spool thing.

I just got a pitbull for a present. My wife ordered it online at Motorcycle superstore for $138.45 shipped!!! it is the SS rear stand that can use spools or non spools. She said it took 3 days to get here!!! Awesome quality, I had a SSS stand for my s2r 1000 and loved it, this is just as nice!
