I have spent sometime reading posts on both of these units and need some help choosing. I know there are lots of riders that have upgraded their Monster's fuel maps.

Let me start by saying that I have a 06 620 with cored pipes. I'm looking to open the airbox and adjust the fueling to maximize the power gains from the increased flow. After that I will probably never adjust it again. I don't see me doing anything else to this bike but ride it and then sell it for a nice S2R.

I have looked around and it seems like the two units are priced the same for my bike right now.

I know that the PC III is more tunable and is more supported by dyno shops. BUT with no maps that seem to match my setup on their site I would have to pay to have the PCIII tuned.

So unless there is a open source of maps on the web I haven't found or if having a shop tune it doesn't cost as much as I'm expecting I feel like the Power Card is a better option since I can specify my setup when ordering and then just plug it in.

Please give me ANY experiences or feedback.

Thanks,
Kevin

I'm no authority on the Powercard, but I think that you'll need to do some adjustment after installing.  But not on a dyno.

Maybe take a look at the Dobeck TFI unit.  It's made by the same manufacturer as the Powercard, but is generic for most Ducatis and a bit cheaper.  There are 4 pots to be adjusted, it's pretty easy stuff.  This thing really changed the performance of my M800.

For your needs I'd just get ther Powercard. Install, then adjust it until your bike is running well. Install is easy, and adjustment is simple (I've even done it at stoplights), and they give you guidelines for settings based upon your situation (i.e. engine, pipes, airbox)...from there you can tweak it a bit. You're not racing or anything...just want to add a bit of fuel to compensate for pipes and an open airbox (which is all the Powercard can do).

I have a Powercard on my MTS, and it works great for the street.

Update

So I emailed a local business that is an approved Dynojet tuning center. I was asking if they had any saved maps that would work for me. He told me that this map on the dynojet site M719-004 *Advanced Map* Remus hi mount slip-ons Open airbox lid Fuel table 1 is front cylinder (orange wire) would be a better starting point than the powercard. Now I'm sure since they are affiliated with PC he isn't going to recommend the powercard but if some one that installs and tunes PC III all the time tells me it will work and not that I have to get a custom map it makes me think that could be the right way to go.

Still looking for any feedback.

I was super wary of installing my PCIII w/o getting a dyno tune. But I'm too impatient so I did it.

I got a map that resembled mine the best of all over choices and it ran 2x as good as it did w/o the PCIII

Didnt do research on the powercard, so I can't help with that.

On the pC web site they list M716-003 (Arrow high mounts, BMC filter Ferracci open airbox). I dont see why the Remus would have different #'s  does anyone know?

Hey Earl,
I had not seen the TFI unit where it you get it?

The place I got mine is defunct.  Here's the Dobeck link for the TFI:

http://www.techlusion.com/

If you look a bit, you should find one for <$200.

I like the versatility, you can retune anytime you change your setup w/o a dyno run.  It may not squeeze the last HP out, but simplicity is attractive, too.

Update.

I ordered a PC III and a K&N filter. Hopefully once they are in I can mod the air box and install the PC without any issues.

I also have a new chain and sprockets to put on, 14 in the front. I'm looking forward a little bit more low end pull after all the new parts are on.

Update,
I got my PC III and have uploaded the map that I was told would work the best. BUT I have noticed that the values are much higher than other maps for the bike and maps for other bikes. At some places the values are plus 30 and other maps are plus 15. Does anyone have a custom map for a 620? Or know of a place to find more maps than on the PC site? I will keep you updated. I hope to mod the air box and install the PC this week.

Final update: I installed the PCIII with the map off their site. ( open airbox, remus high mount)

I also opened the airbox and added a K&N filter. While I was working on it I replaced the chain and sprockets, dropping to a 14 tooth in front.

So I start it up for the first time, it sounded good. Then I clean it up and go for a shakedown ride. Taking it slow, everything feels the same. I notice just a tiny more intake noise and my chain feels smooth.

Bike get up to temp and I get out of town a little.

I'm riding towards a long straight hill. I give the bike some throttle and WOW the intake noise sounds louder than the exhaust! I didn't think that bike could even sound that good.

My butt dyno also tells me that the bike pulls harder. I have around 1000 miles on the bike since the mods and I love it.

I just have to find a better spot for the PCIII at some point because if the unit is just right it will fit between the tank and battery but I don't like how tight it is.

If you are thinking about a PCIII and open airbox I say go for it!!
