Ian, Wheaton is hour fifteen with no traffic...give or take.

plaster is heavy.  13 contractor bags at about 75 pounds per bag.  fuuuuuck.   and that's out of a pretty small room that's going to become a bathroom.   I think the house sighed in relief.

running some electric tomorrow.

Scheduled a POD to be dumped in my driveway next Tuesday...the moving begins in earnest.

Having a packing party tomorrow (if anyone wants to swing by).  No moving...just packing and you can still eat and drink....just tell me what to buy and I'll get it!

I actually wish I would have done just that; sell/trash all my stuff in Hawaii and start fresh up here...

Did just that when I sold my place in Wisconsin and moved here last fall....sold it full of Ikea furniture for more than what it cost new!  waytogo and I didn't have to move it!  waytogo waytogo

Today, I took a walk around the national mall...a little warm but it's a dry heat today, or so they say. Now I'm enjoying my air conditioning and preworking for tomorrow.

I'm moving downtown in a few weeks.  Unfortunately, I'm gonna be bringing some of my IKEA -I mean heirloom furniture with me.

I rode out to Chantilly today to hunt down some good Southern BBQ.  I'm happy to say that Willard's BBQ was as close as I've found yet, though the sweet tea was certainly a far cry from grandma's.  Also happy to say that the low fuel dummy light on the Duc is entirely functional.  Which is far superior to the sputter, slow deceleration, reach down for the reserve tank knob whilst keeping up with traffic on 395 dance that I had to do on the CB1.  You live and learn, right?

Trying to get out of my current place and save a little money on rent at the same time, and a potential roommate is doing her PhD at UMD.  I work in Alexandria.  DC's a good middle point. and I'm still against the commute every day.

Where in Chantilly is Willards?

Best BBQ Ive found around here is The Aldie Rib Man, in Aldie, VA.  The Aldie Store used to have smoked turkey legs that I would find myself driving towards at least once a month from Kensington.  I have a soul food addiction.....

It's on Willard St. off of 28.  I think I rode by that place in Aldie on Friday when I was on my way back from the DucPond.  I was tempted to stop by I was trying to beat the rain.  It is was put the idea of some good bbq in my head though.

Anybody know of some good places to look for decent apartments?  I'm going crazy searching craigslist.

Wasted the whole day at the VW dealer in Alexandria. F*** the salesmen there, f*** him so hard she'll start wearing a dress.

VW has a nationwide deal on their website where qualifying customers can get 0 down, 0% apr on a new Golf for 72 months. Went to Alexandria VW after I saw their "internet price" online for a Golf, spend the whole day waiting to do all the paperwork, 0% became 1.9%, returned with my paystubs more waiting and then when it came to finishing up, the salesman f***ed up and "forgot" to mention that I can't get the internet price AND the VW financing.

Mofo's name is Moussa, I can't speak for the other people who work there, but this guy is a slimy bastard who did nothing but waste my whole day.

Once again, Caveat Emptor!

I am sorry you had to go through all that....there is a saleman at the dealership I work for that I refer all people interested to, cause he is a nice and real guy...but he is a straight up and easy going guy also...and it is usually the people that ask for a reference that are hosing around and waste his time...seems quite he opposite in this case....sorry for your time...
