Now I just need a shorter side stand. The one I've got is the cycle-cat +1.25" and it about disappears under the foot peg, making for a game of hide-and-seek when it's time to park.

Thinking the winter might involve getting those pipes ceramic coated. I know it involves sending my shock off the be serviced... bleh.  And perhaps the cans need to be shorter... hmmm

I hope you're lusting over the bikes and not the Mt. Vernon HS cheerleaders.  Details.
Leave those poor pre-teen cheerleaders out of this, would ya?

Dude, you spotted them.

Nah.  Some of those mountain critters running around Winchester are down right scary.

The post man came by and dropped off some new toys for me Grin

I got this Carbon Fiber front fender off eBay for $69.95. Not the best finish, but I plan to paint it anyway and at that price I don't feel like complaining.

This is the old one for comparison. I'll be keeping it tho, it is Carbon Fiber as well, but it's made to fit the older style forks with 40mm caliper spacing. I'll paint it yellow and put it on the 900 together with another accessory ... Wink

Also got the Factory Pro jet kit from ca-cycleworks. The kit includes stainless allen bolts for the carb bodies to substitute for the lame Phillips head screws, titanium needles and a different set of springs.

One of the needles was unevenly worn, I can't manage to show it on photo, but it looks shiny and feels different when I run my finger on it. For the rest, my idle jets have gone from 37.5 to 42.5, and my main jet is 140.

Not looking for power here (not from a 750 anyway) but for better engine response and midrange. We'll see.

Buddy of mine bought a bike a few months ago, never ridden before. We had planned on visiting a few friends of ours in Texas that had a baby in October. He says to me - Ted, how about we ride the motorcycles to Texas? So I chuckle and try to convince him that's a damn far ride.

So to try and convince him that isn't the best plan I tell him hey, let's ride to Pittsburgh, grab lunch, and come back immediately. That will be about a 12 hour ride if we take backroads, which will be about one day out of two and a half if we ride to Texas.

So we did. Took 144 and 40 out from Baltimore, then 9 south through WV and back up to 40 until 519 to Steeltown. Gorgeous ride, the weather could not have been any better, and the roads were amazing. 9 has some of the best twisting mountain sections outside of the Smokies.

Grabbed a great lunch at Fatheads in Pittsburgh, then rode home on slab the whole way to make better time and keep it to about 12 hours on the bikes. The temperature dropped about 20 degrees through the mountain and my buddy was turning into a popsicle. After the 5 hour highway trip back I think I convinced him that flying to Austin was a far smarter plan, especially after the text I got the next morning...

"Muscles I didn't know I had are killing me, and I think I lost my taint somewhere around Uniontown."

Great times, if anyone wants to hit some of the WV sections one day I'll gladly lead a ride.

"I guess that taint a surprise!" would have been my response!
