I'm calling MRP in Pasadena. They're a Racetech center and they have a very good reputation in the area for suspension setup. I also called Ellicott City Motorsports who quoted me $350 for fork rebuild and rear spring installed which I thought was mighty reasonable. Waiting to hear back from MRP with their quote.

Rear spring install should be fairly simple: lift the bike, take the shock out, back out preload, remove the collar and off comes the spring. I just end up getting side-tracked everytime I think of doing it. Undecided

Is it worth re-valving the forks on your bike? I thought it would be better to just buy a pair of SBK ones and change the springs...

call Rick in NC...his # is listed on his website -> www.motocd.com and don't let the fact that his website ain't all that great deter you...he is Ohlins and Penske certified and is MUUUUUCH better with suspension than web design!

And I cannot recommend you send stuff to Ohlins USA. I sent my shock to them two months + ago and they still have it. I've heard 'it'll be ready in a couple days' several times now and and my bike is still sans shock - and I only sent it in for normal service, nothing crazy at all.

I haven't looked too deeply into SBK forks because I'm trying to do this on a budget, but I would imagine there is a bit more work than:

1. Remove stock fork
2. Bolt in SBK fork with fat guy springs
3. Attach all brake hardware
4. Profit

I've always revalved any car setups that I've done if I changed the spring rate otherwise you can get some mighty harsh results. My bike suspension knowledge is fairly limited. I just ride 'em.

It's pretty much that with shimming the bottom and enlarging the top (50mm to 53mm). You'll also need a handlebar riser or switch to clipons.

If I'm going to work on the forks then I'd rather get SBK ones since they allow for adjustment. I saw a pair with TiN coating for about $180 on fleabay recently, so they're not even that expensive compared to revalving and respringing stock ones.

Right now I'll just leave them as they are, it's not worth the use the 750 sees. I just want to put a stiffer spring on the rear so it will stop bottoming out under my fat arse. laughingdp

Machining the triple is no light task, and I'd be seriously doubtful that my calipers would simply bolt right up as they are the axial variety. I love the 'idea' of the SBK swap, but for what the bike is used for and the budget I'm working in, springs and valves should do the trick.

I'm tired of looking like a shriner because the bike sags so much.

Sort of got stopped by park police. He rolled up beside me at a stop light.

Me: "No, officer, there are motorcycle specific rules, but I was neither violating those nor any other traffic laws to the best of my knowledge"

PP:"Well, don't be driving like the rules don't apply to you."

Me:"Yes, officer."

Light turns green and I pull off somewhat dazed and confused. I wasn't even speeding for a change... laughingdp

that is a grey area...they are and aren't in jurisdiction...if it was US Park Police, they have federal authority which does extend outside of a park...aside from that...any officer, regardless of jurisdiction can pull you over IF you are doing something flagrant and can either detain you while calling for the authority from that locale for back-up or the authorization to write the infraction up themselves ( which is a touchy thing with all the differing municipalities in this area for to assume anything)....best advice, if they have red and blue light bars...give them the respect no matter what...
