I bought the Speedymotos to avoid the machine shop/angle grinder to remove the stock riser route.
You could also bore the top and put some risers on so the bars would clear the fork tops. Or if you go with clip-ons you can just lower the top a few more millimeters to get them to fit over the top, you won't need much more than 25mm.

Now to find some good shim material for the lower clamp and I should be set.
0.5 mm thick aluminum is commonly available from used cans. As in soda/beer cans, yeah really, no I haven't already started drinking
. Can anyone help this young man get an empty beer can?
Not sure all beer cans have the same thickness tho, but don't worry I'll help you find the right one. A little trial and error.

I'm just curious if no-rise clips on the top are a better or worse option than risers under the triple.
You're welcome to have a go at the SC if you'd like. I've got 749 forks on it with SpeedyMoto no rise clip ons mounted below the triples. It's just a wee bit extreme.

If I wanted no-rise UNDER the triples I would just get it over with and break my back
Watching you ride that thing makes me want to make you a cape.
I'm thinking no-rise over is the best plan. Now to see if I like anything more than Woodcrafts which is Plan A.

Just seemed unnatural any other way...

Took a trip to White's Ferry for giggles and grunts. Was sad to find the little store/restaurant closed...but mostly just thirsty!

Just realized I didn't backup my pr0n (not bike pr0n, pr0n pr0n) to the SAN before reformatting the disk on my laptop
Oh well, it was getting old anyway. Time to start fresh!

Sounds like an excuse for a pron pilgrimage.
I rode to Philly today, swung by Cycle Gear in DE on the way home. They had chain tools on sale for $30 from $90 so I grabbed one.

Sweet deal.
I got a bogus DC parking ticket (imagine that!) for "failure to display insp stickr" - I think that, in English, this probably translates as failure to display an inspection sticker. Of course there's a current, valid, 100% legit inspection sticker on the upper left fork tube right where VA says it should be (and where the VA inspection station put it). This was on the DR250 dual sport bike where the fork leg is out in plain view (and the bike is 100% legal - no tail chop, mini/non-dot lights or anything remotely suspect). The D.C. plated R6 with no sticker, a plate mashed way up under the tail-section and, I think, no turn sigs that was parked next to me didn't have a ticket. Anyone think maybe D.C. is trying to tax VA tagged vehicles?
Oh, the ticket also lists the make of the bike as "Acerbis."

I hope you took a picture of the bike as it sat so you can show that one to the judge.

Brilliant!
I would definitely fight that ticket, but then I would fight any ticket since they are all just an excuse to get more revenue. The fact that the sticker was placed by the VA inspection station and that the person couldn't tell what bike you have should work out in your favor.
I do think there is some truth to the out-of-state theory, I remember the last time I stayed in Jersey I got a parking ticket at 9:05 AM for not paying the meter but ALL the other cars with Jersey tags didn't...

all he has to do is take the ticket in to the magistrate and show the make of the vehicle with the correlating tag number from his registration with the ticket and they will throw it out...I had a friend do that with his Eagle Talon that had Mitsubishi Eclipse bodywork on it...he get written up as a Mitsu, and show his registration as an Eagle and they'de match the tag # and nullify the ticket as invalid....it is the ticket writer's responsibility to put all the correct information on the citation as their portion of the burden of proof...wrong info...then what is to say it was actually you or your vehicle...plausible deniability!!!

I don't remember how the inspection tickets work but you can also just mail something in. I have done it a bunch of times with parking tickets. As Artful said, it is great if you took a picture of your bike where it was with the inspection sticker on it. Even if you didn't though, it's no biggie. You can mail in a letter with a picture of your bike with inspection sticker attached, as well as a copy of the paperwork and they will just dismiss it.
Also, in regard to DC trying to tax VA tagged vehicles, it has always been like this. I got a ticket before on my car in DC when I had VA tags. It's possible they are targeting bikes right now though. At least someone on another forum pointed out that actually VA is the one targeting bikes with expired inspection stickers right now. He said he got pulled over by a bike cop and got a ticket and was informed to warn his buddies.

Found my shimming material of choice.
Top triple is ordered, fork auction ends in 5 hours. Fingers crossed.
I'm assuming to get at the pinch bolt around the steering nut I have to remove the ignition assembly?
