It looked like you deliberately went straight towards that log.

I'm learning how to stand on the pegs and shift my (non-indifferent) weight around the bike. I'm okay-ish on gravel, but mud gets me, I think in part because of the tires (Metz Tourance) that came with the bike. We'll see
the Metz Tourance tires are fine, depending on what you are ultimately doing...if you are hitting a fire road or trail every so often, but mostly on road, then that is the tire you want...if you are thinking to go offroad all the time, then perhaps some TKC 80's or something more hardcore, but the road manners will suffer greatly when doing so...

Getting moved in - going pretty well.
On the not going well front Comcast is sucking more ass. Saturday the tech arrived more than 2 hours past the window and then was not about to get TV working due to a bad receiver box. At least the intwrwebs worked - Roku to the rescue there!
Sunday he came back with a sorta working box. It, at least, displays stuff, but is prone to switching off and telling me the channel I was watching is now not allowed... and the signal to my house doesn't support HD w/o massive pixelation and audio stutters.
So they are mailing me a new receiver box and in theory they are going to run a new line from their junction box to the house as I can see a crappy splice on it that shouldn't be there.
IF they weren't the only game in town for me... man

We hated Comcast so bad we cut it off and eventually got DirecTV about 2 1/2 years later. We won't give Comcast another dollar because they are the absolute worst anything we've had to deal with.

Catch is despite the fact I work in that field, Until recently I've only ever used my twitter account in 'receive only' mode. So I don't really have anyone listening to me but a couple bots, and misguided souls.

I stayed on the right side of the road to avoid diving through the puddle. The combination of mud, tires, ABS, fuel injection, my
inexperience
, and (more than anything else) my visceral hate for logs, led to the inevitable outcome.

I'm not bashing the tires, just need to learn how they react to different road surfaces. The next pair of tires will be similar to the Tourances (80/20 or 90/10): Distanzia, Anakee, Scorpion Trail, 705 ... etc.

Perhaps a field trip to Corner Spin for some play time in the dirt?
Ok, so it's really not the sort of riding you're doing there, but you learn about how the dirt feels for sure and it is a hoot

Thought about both Corner Spin and the BMW offering (1 or 2 days in South Carolina). They seem different things to, so I should try both!

Definitely different. The BMW one is proper Adventure riding training while C-Spin is bike handling and body work in dirt with an eye to road applications. Very fun, but if you're looking for adventure skills, it doesn't really apply beyond as much. Though C-Spin does get you used to dealing with cruddy and transitional traction conditions, slippy wheels and falling over.
