All,

I am trying to gauge interest for a ride originating in DC down to SoMD and back on Saturday, 8/22 21 (weather permitting).   I know Lars has lead several excellent rides to SoMD through AA County and probably into Calvert County.  My route (mostly two lane roads) runs through PG, Charles and into St Mary’s County.

I propose meeting in DC’s Penn Quarter neighborhood (Starbucks at the corner of 7th & Indiana/Penn Ave) with stands up at 9:00 am.  The itinerary includes stopping for crabs / seafood lunch at a truly authentic and waterfront crab house.

The ride route down can be as short as 1½ hours or can be easily stretched to 2+ hours before stopping for lunch, and then riding about an 1½ hours back to DC.  If we leave at 9:00 am, I estimate we should be back to DC by 2:30-3 pm.

The pace will be relatively brisk and I want to limit the number of riders to no more than 5 to 6.

I'm interested but tentative; bike is in the shop for a bit. Sounds like a cool ride. BTW, my calendar shows 8/22 as a Sunday.

Saturday ride might be nice.  Not sure if I could keep up with the brisk pace though...

 Thanks! Date corrected.

Pace is relative, right?  I'm pretty sure the pace will be fine for most.

Maybe, if I can make it I might offer an alternate route back. I know a few interesting roads but would be a longer route back. I'm not sure about the pace, it's relative, in some circles I'm consider slow, I could always ride the new slow bike Evil and Lars can ride his old slow bike. Tony, coming from No Va I would want to find a place to catchup with you along the way. - Gene

Kinda sounds like a duel.

Both of my bikes are old and slow.

Oops not what I meant at all, I won't duel on public roads, I'll save that for the track. Just menat that my new toy might be slower on the back roads than my Ducati's, don't know yet. - Gene

Looks like I'll be out for a little. The 750 developed a rattle from somewhere in the engine after this past weekend's ride while the 900 seems  to  have  some  issues  with the tank after it gets down to about 1 - 1&1/2 gallons... fun times ahead Smiley

Gene, what is this new toy that you speak of ?

Massimo, remove tank from 750 and install on 900.

That's too easy!

If the 900's carbie, classic fuel pump issue - gravity's helping you with a fullish tank.  Swapping tanks won't help, but swapping fuel pumps will.  For the 750, hope it isn't the same rattle 1098/848's get.
