Buying a bike because a mechanic owned it is naive. I have done that in the past and have alway's been let down. I would prefer to buy the bike that sat in the garage unridden and unserviced. I would much rather do it all myself. That is just me.
that's not the point. plenty of mechanics around. not many of them have published maintenance manuals with photos of the teardowns.
Now, about the "Childish" comment. Everyone works hard and has responsibilities including myself. The last thing I need, want or will put up with is a snarky attitude from someone I am spending money with. He makes it sound like he is doing me a favor buy selling me parts. I asked him a legit question about his pricing and got the most sarcastic, rediculous email reply back stating that our business together is done. This after I just over $400 with him the previous week. Completely rediculous. I will not deal with someone like that. There are plenty of nice, professional people in the industry who will treat me with respect and gladly take my money.
i totally respect this part. if he acted pissy with you, fine. i don't know what went down. but step back a second and ask yourself why a ducati mechanic is selling all the bikes he owns. if you had some kind of job requiring you to own some things, what would it take to make you sell it all off?
LT has been a stand up guy for the Ducati community and has gobs of satisfied customers. if i lived nearby, i would have him do my bike teardowns. i do some, but don't have the time anymore (trucking them to Paxinos from DC is a b-i-t-c-h)
give the guy some slack. everyone has a bad day, week or even year sometimes. you gotta judge people on more than one phone call.
