Changing brake and clutch fluid?
«
on:
June 17, 2010, 12:47:08 PM »
I'm debating whether to change my brake and clutch fluid myself...is this a fairly easy process. If so, is there a how to in the tech section...I couldn't seem to find it. A video how to would be even better. I hear a bleeder vac really helps...can I purchase one at any local auto parts store?
Thanks for the info and feedback.

Hey Roy,
If you stop by some workday evening I will help, I have the infamous vacumn pump so it takes 15 or 20 minutes.

It's pretty easy, but it's much easier with a pump and a friend. One of you fills the reservoir while the other pumps out the old fluid.
Things to remember:
Keep the reservoir from getting empty to prevent air from getting in.
The fluid is corrosive so be careful to not spill on your bike (and clean up immediately if you do).
You can probably find a how to on YouTube; ducati is the same as other bikes in this regard.

Roy, bring dot 4 brake fluid
Jake, bring Amber.
Brian, bring that massive...... Intellect.
The beautiful Jennifer said she will make rhubarb cake just for Mo.

Well it's 5:15 and the weather looks pretty inclement In New Brighton right now. I think it would be best for me to postpone. I hope that doesn't screw up anyone's evening. "Major Slow" thanks a ton for offering to help me change out my brake fluid. Maybe when the weather is a little better we can re-schedule.
