....because a mind is a terrible thing......

« on: June 21, 2010, 11:40:19 AM »

Just a note to remind everybody that this Friday, June 25th, from 6:00 until 9:00 PJ's will be hosting an unveiling party for the new Monster 796....which is really 804, I think....but who's counting?  See me there!

803cc really.  88mm bore & 66mm stroke.  Same dimensions as the old 800, just updated heads is all...  Oh, and a 1/2 steel frame and a direct acting shock, and...oh screw it.  It's a totally new bike.

I'll likely be there.  waytogo

for like 30 seconds i thought about trading in the 696 ... but for four more HP? it wouldn't be worth it.

That's crazy talk! I gave one quick glance at the 796 and thought how lucky I am to have the proven and tested 696! Don't let 4 extra horse power fool you or tempt you! You and I own the best in it's class pearl-white 696, you should be proud. If all you want is 4 extra horse power, then make an appointment at PJ's service and do some upgrades to your existing beauty! Be happy, your right, its not worth it. Enjoy that 696 for many good years to come, happy riding!  drool

We are headed to the second choice. No offense to PJ...my boss is flipin' the bill tonight.

Everyone enjoy their weekend, regardless of what you do.

+1  Although I do with mine was set up more like the 999S as opposed to the 749S that it is.  Definitely better than stock.  I'm still thinking Key Word :R personally.  But until I hit that powerball, That'll just continue to be an unattainable dream.

175??  Was his detuned or something?  My 749s can be seen doing 175 down Paseo regularly in the mornings, Its like its no big deal.  Geeze.

To add to your vision:  696R, Ohlins R&T front, TTX rear, Ohlins damper.  Forged Marchesini's, adjustable steering head angle, traction control, and maybe some titanium exhaust pipes and an ECU.  And to fully complete the picture.. $35,000 pricetag!  C'mon Ducati lets see what you can do!

As was rote for the week, we ran into a few problems last night and it was just more expedient to stay at home.  On the bright side, I've been able to borrow a company pickup truck for Sunday, so at least I'll get to race....unless the fuggin' company truck breaks, too.

Now if I can just find some gas.......   [moto]
