I've run over two so far. First one on a fat cruiser at
low speed. Me on the cruiser. About a 30lb dog that
ran in front of the front wheel. All I felt was a mushy
bump and heard a yelping dog scrambling away.
Bike was stable the whole time.  Huh?

Sunday, I now think a smaller one missed the front
tire and hit the front manifold. No worries on my part.
Stable again.

Conclusion: upright collision may not be too worrisome.
In a lean: all bets are off.

Good thing dogs don't fly popcorn

I've never hit a stray dog, but I have hit opossums, armadillos, squirrels...
On one trip I even shucked a turtle out of his shell and shot it at RonR!  Grin
Just stay "loose" on the controls and all will be fine -even when leaned over.

The bike is inherently stable.  What YOU do can make the beast with two backs it up, over-reacting, etc...

This rule doesn't apply to big dogs, burrows, mules, cows...

Luckily they were straight.  Ramming a homosexual dog would just be disturbing.

Worse yet would be rear ending the dog.   Wink

And freshly flat armadillos are a LOT more slippery than you'd think, especially if you're cranked over in a corner.  Slimy plated little bastards.  (I know, I know; after alll the nice things they said about me.)

I guess I've been lucky in this regard... so far. (Knock on wood.)  The only inter-species contact I've had while riding involved insects... most memorable was an extremely juicy grasshopper that somehow splatted from one side of my visor all the way to the other side.  I think I even heard it go SPLAT when it hit...  Lips Sealed

Turkeys don't make a SPLAT sound. More of a THUD.
