Did anyone have issues with lining up the 4 screws used to attach the two pieces? Looks like the bottom piece is too wide...need to squeeze the side in a little or make the hole bigger so it lines up with the other one (threaded). Cant squeeze the sides in because its folded and blocked by the angled panel (closest to the front of the bike)...make the hole bigger?

i used a rubber mallet to push it out enough to get the holes lined up. but i didnt use the back small screws. I used those holes to run the wires

(Pulled from other thread) *this is what I had to do to get theR&G tail tidy to fit. Ok Below are the photos of where I ground off some of the plate with a standard bench grinder. Most of the grinding was done on the vertical surface but also some on the "corner" of the bracket half. ![](http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/af353/WinSomeLoseNone/Ducati/Monster%20696/Install%20Photos/RnG%20Tail%20Tidy/DSC_0367.png) ![](http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/af353/WinSomeLoseNone/Ducati/Monster%20696/Install%20Photos/RnG%20Tail%20Tidy/DSC_0370.jpg) The Photo below gives the best idea of where I ground the plate to make a perfect fit. Touch up with some black paint and your golden. ![](http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/af353/WinSomeLoseNone/Ducati/Monster%20696/Install%20Photos/RnG%20Tail%20Tidy/DSC_0371.jpg)

Definitely alignment issues with the kit.
I went the route of actually bending those wings up a little, to clear enough room to run the wires. I also bent the tab with the two front holes some, it helped line things up. Then I ran each screw in 1 to 2 turns until I got everything to line up & tightened it all up. You gotta give it some "love" to get it together right.

@WinSomeLoseNone - thanks for the pics and description of your fix.
Looks like there are others with alignment issues with this kit. For the price charged on these I would have expected a perfect fit and better quality control. The parts don't fit together!

@WinSomeLoseNone - Is it possible to just bend the side pieces up to create a gap for the wires? Looks like theres plenty of clearance before the brake light. I think this is what z0mb1e_DUC did for the wires. ![](http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/1875/31693852.png)

So you would need to bend just the ends of the bracket on 1/4 inch aluminum plating. Difficult but possible.

Have any of you guys notified R&G of this issue? I'm sure they'd want the feedback so they could correct it as they generally offer great kits that fit easy. Wonder how this one became an issue!

Any word back from R&G? I contacted the place I bought the kit from, waiting for response.
Update on the kit I got - Not only do the 4 screw holes not align, but also the 4 holes for the posts that come from the tail plate (attached to subframe). If the posts arent allowed to fully pass through the 2 pieces then the tray cannot mount flush to the tail plate. This kit is a complete fail!

+1 they responded and said they were happy with the kit and the problem would be forwarded to the manufacturing department... aka they will do nothing. send it back.

Sounds like it's more trouble than it's worth. I was considering one of these, but think i'll look at something else that won't be such a hassle. Thanks for the posts.

If not R&G the next best build quality kit is the Evotech one. Almost identical to the R&G but without the install issues.
