My WTF moment from last weekend - we were working on the foundation at the off-grid property, and in my exhaustion after hand loading and hand tamping a dozen or so wheelbarrow loads of river rock (most of the 20+ tons went in place with a rented Bobcat, but there were a few low spots), I looked over at the cement mixer and spotted the remnants of the cord dangling in the wind:

Looking closer, it's clearly not rodent or human damage. 3' or so of the cord and the grounded plug were no where to be found:

It looks like it was gnawed off by molars, which makes me think there's a young calf or yearling steer walking around with a pretty notable belly ache. Has anyone seen that before?

It's possible, but I haven't seen any free-roaming ones around there (or any penned ones, either). The other possible culprit would be pronghorn, which I've spotted frequently up there, and I assume there are deer around, though I've never seen them or any definitive sign. Elk come through on occasion, but it's more winter range for them - this time of year they're up in the pines, in much higher elevation.

My dad had that problem with his utility trailer electrical / light / cord connection.  Kept blaming my brothers-in-law because they used it all the time.  Eventually he caught his dog gnawing it to bits.

Is that a possibility?
