Wow. Mother Nature red in tooth and claw.

Years ago I saw an awesome ant war at my farm. Fire ants were taking over the state. They found my farm and the large red ant mounds (the one horny toads love to eat!) that covered the place. The red ants were several times bigger than the fire ants but the little bastards were kicking their ass. Several fire ants on ever red ant. Tons of dead red ants all over the mound. It was quite the battlefield. Guess what? No more red ants at my farm anymore... and no horny toads. bang head Wish I had a camera that day.

Rob with all due respect I think that is a Huntsman or Wolf spider ,
nice photographic work though Mr Attenborough   waytogo
The Funnel web is a whole lot more of evil arguably the most poisonous spider in the world (wasp would still win though)
but only lethal to primates , which never made it across the Wallace line that runs through Eastern Indonesia,
well until Aboriginals arrived here some 20,000 to 40,000 years ago then us pasty white invaders in wooden ships.
The male has the most potent venom and tends to roam looking for its larger female which likes to eat
him if he doesn't measure up to her expectations, this is why we like to shake out our boots and check clothes
you left lying beside the bed before you put them on  Shocked.

I picture my dog running around the yard making stars and hearts to hand out as party favors to the neighborhood kids.
They'll all fight over who gets the ones with corn in it.

Your dog eats corn?

No wonder its feet smell like Fritos.

This isn't my picture, but I have had the pleasure of seeing this little dance in person:

That is a tarantula hawk wasp and a tarantula. Once a year, when pregnant, a female tarantula hawk wasp will stalk a tarantula. The fight (usually) ends ith the t-h-w flipping the spider on its back and stinging it. The stinger does not kill the spider but rather paralyses it. The t-h-w then drags it to its den where she proceeds to lay a nice little pile of eggs right on the spider's abdomen. Three days later the eggs hatch and the spider is eaten alive by the dozens of freshly hatched larvae.

Nature stories like that are creepy as shit! Probably where they got the idea for the original Alien movie back in '79. With my luck I'll come back in my next life as a tarantula and some damn wasp will come along, kick my ass, drag me in a hole and lay tarantula eating eggs all over me! laughingdp Although I do have a list of people that I would rather see that happen to instead of me!!! waytogo popcorn Grin

I think it's time to post up some more pics of the Honey Badger!!
