Long dead thread.  But incase anyone stumbled across this again.  It turned out, after 15 years of being a musician, and other hand strenuous jobs, I had developed a knot basically in my forearm.  Right below the elbow.  It took a while but working out the knot with a chiropractor did the trick.
 
Don't have a bike these days but I don't think it would be an issue.
