Need help installing Termignoni exhaust cans on my 00' M750

-I bought a nice set of low mount Termi cans with the hope that they were a simple swap job.
Unfortunately, it seems that the pipes are longer than on the stock cans, throwing off fitment. Also,Termignonis come with their own brackets, which is just another variable.
-The guy I bought these from had them on an 02' S4 with no problems. I assume that the rearsets on both bikes are identical. I know the pipes are obviously different.
-I don't know where I should go from here: trim the excess off the Termi pipes to fit my stock pipes, get the pipes for an S4 (assuming they'll fit)

-I've seen tons of bikes with Termi exhaust mods, even on an M750 so I know it can be done.
Any insight or advice is greatly appreciated. I've taken photos also to better explain. If need be, I'll post 'em.

The S4 is a 4V liquid cooled bike so swapping the exhaust header onto your M750 won't work.  The rearsets are indeed the same so that shouldn't be a variable.  You may need to get the brackets for these (or make them yourself) cans to work on an air-cooled bike...

The Termi cans have their own bracket. (in the pictures)

I wonder if I got stock brackets for an S4 if that might help. Any thoughts?

Exhaust comparison. The Termignoni pipes going into my stock headers are a bit longer:



I'm trying to get the bracket hole over the spacer on the rearset:


I need between 5/8-7/8" to get the hole on the spacer for a proper fit on both sides.

This is as close as I can get:

You could do this:

Remove Termi-brackets
Trace them onto some cardboard
Adjust the hole location on the cardboard to where you think it's supposed to be
Check on the bike w/the cardboard template
Adjust if necessary
Take template and trace onto some aluminum
Drill holes first, then cut to the template
Install and enjoy!

i know when i put my termi on my 620 there was some twisting and such to get them to seat completely inside the headers and even then it took some more positioning to get them to sit on the same brackets you are having with the stock rearsets.

but from the pics it looks like the factory might have made the inserted part for the headers too long, if its only off by a small amount maybe cutting the ends of the part that goes into the headers might work but do so at your own risk.

that's very strange. although the termi pipe are longer, the brackets are closer to the end to make up for the difference.
I would keep finagling to see if they can seat closer into the header.

another option is to just fabricate new pipe brackets out of some sheet metal. seem like a simple 45ish degree bend and 4 holes to drill.

edit: yeah, what duck-stew said! what's the fun of stuff bolting right up anyway!

Initially, that's what I thought as well...I'm gonna study the microfiche for both my bike and the previous owners to check out the header length and curve.Good call.

Have you tried flipping the termi brackets around either fore/aft or left to right to see if that would achieve proper alignment?
