so if you guys remember the 92 DR650 that was in Leesburg for 1200 that I posted back on the 13th of March....

seems the guy that bought it put different mirrors on it and a Tapout sticker on it and jacked the price up from $1200 to $2000 and it is now in Alexandria....and to top it off, left no way to contact him for anyone to inquire about purchasing or beating him up about it...here is the current CL ad link...

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/mcy/2938531591.html

and I'll bet the new owner hasn't put a speedo on it or have any further clue about the milage....because the previous owner told me as such himself...

Well the TapOut sticker adds at least 300 bucks to the value.

well...I was more getting at him being the "off site" storage for 'tiz for all the machines he can't fit at his property....which I was including my Cagiva since I know he wants a Gran Canyon and I am seriously thinking about selling it for to put together getting Triple J's KTM which I am severely lusting after...

hmmm..  the tire issue is a problem though.  i emailed and he said it's had the same tires on it for the last 8+ years.

none are available.  an italian company said they might make some, but no love yet.

My son sold a 750 tri-color show bike on eBay last year which had relatively fresh tires. Michelin no longer make them and but upon futher investigation he learned that some Brits had solved the problem with wider tires which required minor mods to the bike for clearance. Can't recall the specifics. I was never wild about those tires anyway as the front could push with little warning on the stock Michelin. (Had a 750 Paso Limited) Wider could be good...  Cool FYI http://www.wmsbrg.com/ebay/history/88pasoshowbike/

The issue is the front tire.  The rear tire is available as a 130 or 140, i forget the size.  But no front tires around that clear the mudguard.

Swapping to a 17" wheel is an option but then you have different brakes and same issue with the mudguard(s)

Ahhh, the Indiana: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1987-DUCATI-INDIANA-/330715109602?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item4d002818e2

I generally oppose cannibalizing bikes, but that motor needs to be rescued.  It would look nice in a retro cafe.  Of course you'd have to move the decimal one space to the left on the sellers asking price to make it reasonable.  I like how he tries to justify the selling price by noting that there is a running Indiana on Craigslist in Mississippi listed for $4500.  Roll Eyes

Be careful -- that crappy chrome will not look as good in person and it's a pregnant dog to remove.

And pricewise, you're 100% right.  That craigslist bike will never sell above 2500
