'07 APRILIA TUONO 1000R - $6300 (Annapolis)

6K for a Tuono R seems like a good deal, but then KBB says $6040 for excellent condition purchasing from dealer.

Nice bike, a flat out copy of the Dakar Elefant.

You're right that keeping it on the road might take some coin, but for those who have the time and money to live the multi-bike life (not me Embarrassed) $4000 is quite reasonable to add a unique show pony to the fleet.

He has had it for sale for over 2 years now.  it is seized.

I replied to it in May 2011.  i went to look at it that week.  i tried turning it, it was frozen.  there was an excessive amount of oil on the horizontal exhaust port.  i offered him $500 and he told me he would pass.

I don't recall it previously having a barnett clutch on it before and why would he put new belts on it if it is seized?...just asking...

It's the exact same ad, same photo, same guy.

He put "new" belts on it when it was still on the bike 2-3 years ago, and then took the motor off after.  I don't know if it is seized from grenading or from just surface rust or something but it was clearly not in perfect shape inside.

so basically you were offering to buy it for what the heads were worth for the most part, being that it should have "V" stamped heads on it...

more or less, but that's about the going rate for one of these older version SS motors when you can't inspect the inside..  and there's oil coming out the exhaust...

the older SS engines had the funky oil lines...

my gut feeling tells me the horizontal head has a bad valve.
