"Dressed out to look like a track bike, but never raced." (translation: "I lowsided it once and needed to cover scratches")
"and, yes, it is fast, it's a friggin' Ducati!" (translation: "Depends on your definition of fast. It's faster than an EX500.")

He wants too much, but I luvs me some 900SS.

there is an easy way to check any older SS for lowside damage--  the rod supports for the side fairings are attached to the frame on a THIN piece of metal.  This metal easily deforms if significant (>200lbs) is put on it.  That's the first thing I look at on one of these bikes.

If the bike is in otherwise perfect shape, I would say $3500 is about right, but it really depends on a lot.  The typical going price for an SP used to be $5000, for an FE $6000 and a regular SS was $4000.  I don't know how much the economy has affected things, but he's asking less than that for what looks like a regular black SS.

There was a handful of black 900SS's made in 94 or 95.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

He's relisted it to close just after another s2r ends which has a lot fewer miles and no reserve.

Hey Tocino, PM me if you want to sell me your s2r for high bid on this one plus a little that I would have paid for shipping? I'll even swap the chain out myself if it isn't done yet. Can't blame a guy for asking, can ya?

Wouldn't surprise me if they went lower.  They also had a pair of S2R1000s out there, but IIRC they were priced about the same.  I'd take the 749 myself, if I was looking for something like that.

And in other news...  Anyone looking for a new exhaust kit?
