Another 900SS/SP

Looks good, but I'm confused by the lettering on the fairing side (hollow "Ducati"). I thought that was old style and by that point they'd switched to the "SuperSport DesmoDue" solid lettering. Sign of a crash in it's history?

Prefer the hollow "DUCATI" to some of the writing on previous versions, maybe the owner feels the same Wink

I'm thinking of this Guzzi Griso tho: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/mcy/2002625599.html

Hmmm. '91 would be cool just because it's an early model, and the white frames are neat (although white wheels are a beyotch to keep looking nice), but no pictures and needs "a little tlc or tune up"? Sounds like 2000 worth of problems. Then again maybe talk him down to 1500? Winter's coming...

I'm pretty sure you're right. Plus a lot of other things were upgraded between then and 95 / 96. If I remember correctly, it was the late 80s / early 90s ones that gave the 900SS a bad rep.

I would suggest this one instead: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/mcy/2020963689.html

$400 more but you get FCR carbs, bunch of nichols parts and other goodies. Plus I prefer carbs to fuel injection, but I'm a bit looney.  cheeky

In general I have to say tho, come fall there quite a lot of deals that surface up. I guess people don't want to have to deal with the hassle of storing bikes over winter. Not a problem for me tho, I ride! [moto]

No, the early SS models had the same frame as the SportNuovo and did not have the problems that I am aware of -- most of them were sold in Europe though -- and no one I talk to over there has mentioned it.

90% of the SS frames that have cracked were 1995 models.  the rest are 1996.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Meh, not for me. I do like how the engine seems magically suspended, though.

I'll take the forks and rear shock. Grin

Of all the CL listings I've looked at tonight, this is my favorite:

Most fugly paint job award goes to this gixxer:

Just a heads-up... scam or ignorance... these are 2009, not 2010 M696's:
