That bike is way too hammered. If you got it really, really cheap then maybe.
If I could get it for around 1k for parts alone? Hell yeah!

Plus, Massimo mainly wants it just for the motor.  Thing is, the motor might have taken a hit as well...  Either that or the owner took off a pressure plate and clutch cover...

That could still be too high but I suppose it depends on your disposable income. I agree that going for the engine would be good but you have to reduce your exposure and risk as much as you can. Fixing wrecks adds up bigtime in a hurry.   Grin

I hate not having my own garage! I would jump on this deal immediately! Angry

I signed up on that site and you have to be "licensed" or you have to pay a broker to buy and deliver it for you.

Cheapest I could get that for was $450 plus delivery -- wtf?  They are right down the road from me, I have to pay $600-700 for the privilege of having someone buy the bike for me?  Screw them.

Thanks for the info, I had not checked. That pretty much ruins the deal.

a good complete HyperMotard engine costs about $1500 on eBay, so getting the engine, ecu, injectors and wiring for less than that would have been a deal. Then I could sell all the other parts/crap I didn't need for my project.

Plus there's always the option of asking Donnie to keep an eye out for total-loss bikes that come into DucPond for eval. I'm sure he does insurance estimates and maybe could let you know when a good motor becomes available.

Think you should part it out rather than sell it whole.  That way you could use the engine in the sbk frame you've got.

Thought about it, using the engine, carbs and electricals out of the 900 would save time (and maybe some money). But if I sell the bike then I can get a Hyper or Multi engine that will bolt right in and (in the long run) is cheaper to get more power out of.

Granted, but didn't you say that the 900, with those carbs, has enough power to give you a good scare already?

Well, the 750 is more than enough for good times on public roads and even the Shenandoah course at Summit Point.

This is more about me being anal about the build than real need for power. I'd rather have a DS motor and not part out the 900 simply because I feel it's the better solution. waytogo
