That 690 is really sweet, but I want this

that is what I'd replace the Gran Canyon with if I had to....

I love the idea of the desmotre heads. I wish they would have used them on the monsters -- maybe an "S3/S3R" model.. that would have been pretty slick.. smaller than the S4 but lots more power than the S2x

Don't bash the S2r, there's a real nice one right here:
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/mcy/2464284198.html
And a nice ol' 95 SS for an almost decent price:

I have an S2r, I WASN'T BASHING ! :-)
and that's a great price for an SP, but he's crapped it up really badly IMHO.. i am not a fan of a pre-stickered bike. the black paint job I don't mind so much, but the SP should be red or yellow... i think that is why the price is so low.. it's a real deal though.
Check this out

As a current owner of both, I can honestly say that the S2R1000 gives nothing away to the ST3, the opposite is true in fact, the only place where the motor on my ST3 has a small advantage is in the sweepers running at a speed I should not be running on the street anyway. Meanwhile the S2R (or my M900) is way more fun and capable in the tight twisty stuff that is the most fun to ride. The American fascination with HP just boggles my mind, if most riders were honest with themselves they would realize that even 95 HP on a light machine like the S2R1000 is more than enough for our roads. I love my ST3 and just completed a 5 day run down to Barber and back on it, on nice 2 lane back roads. it was fun and having the luggage capacity was nice but on many of those roads I would have preferred being on one of the Monsters, with slightly less power perhaps but the agility more than makes up for it.

St3 cams are mild while the S2r1k's are much hotter. The St3 has a lot more potential for range.

YEAH, but I have to ask...how much different would your experience have been in comparing the 2 if your ST didn't have those stunning and light Corrazzeria's on it?

It was too hard to stand the daytona up right and level to check the oil. Works like a charm!
