Now for something Monster un-related but still cool:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1992-DUCATI-907ie-PASO-BIMOTA-/170701706641?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item27be9d5591
Best part of the description:
"I ... raced Doug Polen in 1986 near Woodside road and I could get ahead of him in the turns, but he put too much pressure on me so I let him go by and stayed on his tail. In other words, I'm no slouch when it comes to going fast in the turns."
Could someone post the Capt Pickard Fail pic with him holding his face in his hands?

I will be selling my 2001 M750 as soon as my Speciale is finished (fingers crossed). Let me know if you're interested.

the 907s are really the best of the pasos because they have the 900 engine and 17" wheels.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Pass. I'm far more tempted by this:

or this:

That seems like a good price on the Stelvio considering it comes with those boxes.

I demo'd the MTS1200. Hugely impressive bike. A bit too plasticy and refined for my tastes (remember I don't like "wind protection"), but its an awesome machine - great suspension, brakes, handling and of course huge power. What really surprised me was how docile and civilized it is - its smoother and more refined than even the wife's 620. Just pulls cleanly, literally from idle to red-line. If they do a MTS1200 with less plastic and a bit more fiesty motor (doesn't even have to be faster, its super-fast, just a bit more lively/less refined) I'd be in serious lust.

With the intro of the 848 Streetfighter for 2012, an MTS850 seems likely for 2013. Perhaps the retune of the revvier (I'm sure thats a word) 848 engine will give you what you seek...

It just might, but I wouldn't complain about a naked MTS1200 with a 1198 motor fitted straight in with no re(de?)tuning either. Sort of a 4v hyper with a big fuel tank.

Rode it at DucPond last year, pretty much agree with your opinion. The only thing I would add is my concern over how bad things can go when (not if, just when) one of its electronic gadgets go bad.
Yea, things have progressed and FI (fuel injection) has become much more reliable, and so has ABS. But at the same time every new bit added is another possible point of failure. I say enough of this sh!t, I want a bike designed for the Flintstones!

That was kind my thinking about the S1000RR: great bike once you take it out of rain mode, but that repair bill for all the anti-idiot mistake gadgets is gonna SUCK!!
