just flicking round the net as you do and saw this ....sounds interesting.....quote from AMN

Ducati has replaced its 848 middleweight with the new 848 EVO – at 140bhp the most powerful supersport bike it has ever produced. The power hike comes from an overhauled engine and it's contained by better brakes and a steering damper for the first time.

Other updates include new cylinder heads with revised port shapes, new cams with revised timing, a new piston crown shape, higher compression, larger throttle bodies and two lambda probes. The tweaks see the engine outperforming even BMW's S1000RR according to the engineer's standard measure of engine performance - bhp/litre/1000rpm. Weight remains the same at 168kg claimed.

so at that ratio an 1198 would produce 200 hp Huh??

oh well no doubt we will hear more soon...... applause applause

I wonder then if they will do an "S" model finally. Or would it out sell/shine the big brother.

Very tasty.   Tongue
More propaganda here: http://www.ducatinewstoday.com/2010/07/the-ducati-848-is-dead-long-live-the-new-848-evo/

This website is also suggesting the new release at Laguna Seca may be a Streetfighter 848 to fit between the two current Monsters. Hmn maybe you're on to something Hambo.  Damn why did I quit my job  bang head bang head

Maybe that might be a nice 2011 stable mate for the S4Rs instead of a noodle.

Go the Evo Matty. The Noodle looks realy weird with that nose. If that was removed I would say yes  popcorn

yeah +1 on that  - I saw a Multi in town the other day and had to do a double take at the front.

Besides a dark 848evo - menacing! Evil

True to both of those thoughts, but I am also thinking of something that can tour more than 160k's from a tank.

I do agree though the dark looks farking Great.

Aren't the weights prectically identical?

and choice of colours which I like - dark and red!  [moto]

Won't there be less colour choice ... red white and dark were already available. Now heady towards just red and whatever that 'new dark' is called.

ALLEGEDLY from what I have read the bike is meant to be 10lbs (or about 5kg for you youn uns) weight saving through use of monobloc brakes etc - so yes the weights are almost practically identical - probably just splitting hairs here!  Smiley

And yes you are correct - I just said there was a choice.  The 'new dark' is called dark, like they did with the monsters.  Admittedly I do like the white on the 848.  Shame you cant get it with the evo. Like I said before though an dark 848evo looks menacing!!
