According to the SMH, there were a thousand not being listened to.

"Our bikes use from just two litres to four litres per hundred kilometres."

Definetly not my bike!

A thousand sounds about right Suzy.

Of course the article goes on to call the collective gathering "roaring bikies"  Roll Eyes

... and also mentions the "several bikes roaring up and down the road during the protest" which I thought was pretty embarrassing and counter-productive

"Our bikes use from just two litres to four litres per hundred kilometres."

Definetly not my bike!

Yeah but with the small tank capacity you are pushing it half the time ... so it averages out Grin

the rally had a pretty good turn out, and i am reliably told there will be changes to the way things are done.. no prizes for guessing what type of bikes "roaring" up and down... although they were hardly doing that either...

I find it a little sad that certain individuals are happy to just go along with what ever 'society' as a whole throws their way. $680 is not a reasonable price for CTP, and i'm in full support of the protest that happened today.

I'm of the opinion that the Government knows that the vast majority of people who ride bikes ride them for the purpose of enjoyment and ease, and not just for convenience. Therefor, they will continue to raise the prices, under the guise of "Increased crashes", because they know that motorbike riders will pay anything to be able to participate.

It thoroughly disgusts me that actual 'riders' are just happy to sit there and shut up. That kind of person is the facilitator of the foreseeable 'nanny nation' as well as 'big brother'.

An indication of this down in Vic is the response/s to the "Safety Levy" imposed on us. Safety.............Bullshit!  Angry

Just another way of extorting money of a minority! And we just laid down and rolled over!  Roll Eyes Sad

Bring back the 60's! cheeky

Free love, protesting and err free love. Grin

And ROCK & ROLL! waytogo

On a serious note I just registered my 998 and the green slip was less than my Monster. Considring the bike was unregistered which I thought the green slip would cost more it ended up only costing $370 for twelve months where my Monster was $384 before the price changes.

Oh and thats with full comp insurance.

And if your interested that price was through GIO

not the source, but am told there were closed door meetings after the rally that resulted in a few changes in the way things are done.. what the long term result is .. who knows, we can only hope..

is public news now..

Quote
During a meeting with Mr Daley later in the day, the MCC were given the opportunity to nominate a representative for the Motor Accidents Advisory Council, which advises the minister on green slip issues.

The Motor Accidents Authority had also been instructed to work with the Motorcycle Council in appointing an independent actuary to review green slip pricing, Mr Daley said.

Thanks Oz.

So despite all of Mr Stoner's posturing (or maybe because of) something has happened. Kudos to those involved, hopefully they will actually get the opportunity to make a difference.

What the .. Shocked  Wow, that's really gotta hurt!

"Safety Levy" ... Safety.............Bullshit!  Angry

+1.  A lot of the "work" being done with the funds to make our roads safer is merely lowering the speed limits.  Then they have the gall to put up signs saying that the road is now safer.  In fact the road is no different.  Huh?

I did hear that originally the wankers in the Pubic service had decided to give the monies raised by this "Safety Levy" to RACV to administer!!?? Shocked Angry

You gotta be shittin' me! OUR money administered by a car organisation which is known to be less than supportive of motorcycling!!  Evil

Just how much of it would have been used for us if that had happened?? Roll Eyes  bang head

There is NO intelligent life within the rarified atmosphere of Government and Public Service premises!  Roll Eyes  drool
