« on: August 07, 2010, 07:52:44 PM »

Anyone riding in or around Monterey?  Just moved from Hawaii looking for some people to ride with and learn where the good spots are around the area.  Thanks in advance hope to see some of you out and about, I have an 848 Dark if you spot me.

Welcome! If you made it to the USGP last month, you may have inadvertently met some of us on Ducati Island.

If you feel like making the trip, we get together in San Francisco the last Thursday of the month.

Hey, I moved here (East Bay) from Hawaii earlier this year.
I think you will be amazed at all the great rides around here.

What brought you to the Mainland?

From Monterey just get on the 1 and start going south through Big Sur, some of the best riding in the area!

35 (aka Skyline), 84, and 9 in the Santa Cruz mountains are just a little north of you and are worth the trip also; lots of motorcycles on these roads on the weekends and also some popular places to stop and meet fellow riders.

If you come up north you can ride the S. Cruz mountains.  There a number of folks down that way and some of us make the trip down there once in a while to ride.  It's a good halfway point.

Wow thanks for all the replies.  Sounds like there is some good riding to be had here.  As for moving to the mainland I came for my job, I actually got a raise to leave Hawaii and work in one of our offices here, not to mention how much more inexpensive even Monterey is compared to the island.

Yep, I am shocked every time I buy groceries.
