Stripped Clutch Spring Bolt
«
on:

Dang.....
I installed a Paulimoto Spyder ring 2 months ago.
I just got a red Ducati Performance Clutch plate. Wouldn't you know it, I stripped one of the bolts while removing the ring....
I guess I have to drill it out...
Any other tips?

You might want to post this in "Tech". Could you describe the damage better? Rounded the head out? Stripped the threads? Cross threaded? If you rounded the head you could try tapping a torx into it. If that doesn't work, you could Dremel a slot for a screwdriver. If the threads are stripped releasing the other fasteners some may put enough pressure on the fastener to unscrew.

Unless it really bothers you, you can just leave it in if its not too loose. Several people run only 4 out 6 retainers to reduce weight and lighten the clutch pull.

Hey man, I did the same thing when was installing my new pressure plate. I found if I just put the rest if the bolts back on it took almost all the pressure off the one that was stripped. Then I could slowly and carefully get it out. My problem was I took one bolt out at a time leaving the last bolt with the entire pressure of the plate and springs. Give it shot anyway.

and with the spider you can definetly do that - tighten down the 5 other bolts into their beds and there should be minimal load on the 6th 'stripped' bolt.
best of luck
