Didn't know until a little while ago that DP made a high-mount full system dubbed the '916 Style' exhaust for 900s. Getting it on the bike's been a bit of a journey.

I've wanted high-mounts, well always. Prior to this the bike had low Termis, and I'd fitted some Motowheels type rearsets with passenger pegs. During a tire kicking session one of the locals let me know that someone on the board had this full system, and mono rearsets that was looking to trade to a low-mount biposto  - so a bargain was struck.

After some figuring out who needed what bits off of each bike to make the other functional (he was missing a couple factory linkages) parts were sent.

Long story short... it took a good bit of swearing to get that set up in place. Not due to any issues any other bike would have, due to the fact that my bike is a 2000 900S, which is an odd ball amongst the Monsters. I'm lucky enough that it came with an Ohlins remote reservoir shock - that of course has the reservoir mounted right where the exhaust tubing runs.... So there's been relocation of that. Running new brake reservoir line, chopping of a bolt I cross-threaded like a dummy, making of a stand off for the belly pan and lots of pulling of springs.

But after all that - it's on and the bikes a go again. So here's said system installed.

After all that work, I finally got my test ride.. and I like!  I can feel the fact that the system flows more freely than the stock. There's more torque down low, rolling up through the band. One change up that will require adjustment is with more flow, there's less engine brake. Since I like my engine brake, I'll need to adjust for that.

And the new sound... The ole girl isn't quite as loud as she was, and less raspy. Best analogy I can cook up is it sounds more car like. I sporty Italian one though...

So now, I need to stop dicking about and actually give her a real ride
