Canyon Rd in Portland.  Two lane traffic, I'm in the left hand lane there's a left hand turn lane about two hundred feet ahead on my left.  Traffic in the right hand lane is a bit jammed up so some douche bag in a mazda decides he wants to go from the far right lane where he's stuck, to the left turn lane.  This would involve him cutting across the center lane (the lane I am in).  Douche bag decides to pull this manuever with no signal and in the jerkiest, most impatient fashion possible.  He literally just guns it from one side of the road, straight out and across my lane. Before I can react, the front of my Monster is up against the left rear of his car.  My left knee smashes against the trunk and I feel the weight of the motorcycle being sucked down into the pavement.  The directional force from his car sweeping the front end of my bike to my left initiates a spin that continues as I lay it down and the right side of my body makes contact with the road.  I slide another 15 feet or so and end up looking back at traffic coming from what was behind me; I am now at the beginning of the left turn lane.  The bike is crushing my right leg and my back feels like it's on fire from where it has been rough sanded to hamburger from the road.

Ended up going later to the ER because my leg was killing me.  They took a bunch of Xrays and luckily no broken bones.  Just some serious contusions and road rash.  I got lucky, my Monster not so much.  The throttle snapped clean off.  The front forks seemed un-bent but took some surface damage.  Front tire has  a big chunk missing and/or smeared off.  The right exhaust can is smeared, and the right foot peg is all jacked up.  The headlamp seemed to be unbroken but the mount is bent to shit. Didn't look too closely as the tank but I imagine it's taken some kind of damage. I'm imagining that the cost to repair the bike back to pre-accident condition will equal or exceed the cost of the bike, so it's likely totalled.  God damn people and their shitty driving.  Watch out for idiots, please.  I'll update when I know more about the bike.

Sorry about your wreck and bike.  Doesn't sound like there was much you could've done to avoid that one.  Just curious, how did your left knee hit the trunk if the front of your bike hit the left rear of DB's car and you got spun to the left?

Bummer in the 1st Degree.

Can't protect yourself from " Douce bags gone Wild ."

Glad to hear your are not hurt real bad.

I guess you are lucky in most respects as you could have been killed.

Bikes and cages meet ...cages always win !

If you weren't wearing leather I'd use this experience to motivate myself to get a pair of leather pants and Jacket ...and wear them always.

Road Rash not only hurts ....but it easily leads to MRSA which can lead to real bad things.

Feel better soon.

Canyon Rd, east or west bound can be a pregnant dog for traffic. Cry I hope the mazda didn't rabbit on you and you got all the insurance info, and if the EMT's were there were the police as well? Did the mazda get cited?

To a quick, complete recovery drink

Get a doctor to look at your road rash too.  Infection sucks!

Yeah, the guy stopped and helped me get my bike out of the road.  Luckily he was insured and so I got all that info.  Also he was cited for an illegal lane change, so pretty much that looks good for me.  He also admitted that it was his fault (which you are not suppose to do) to the cop, so I should be covered there.  I'm pretty banged up and feeling sore today especially.  I'll be visiting my doctor in a couple days per the instructions from the ER, and I see some pain and suffering compensation in my future.  My poor Senna...  Just thankful my wife wasn't on the back with me at the time.
