I'm in the market for a new knife and currently checking out the Mantis line..
http://www.mantisknives.com/products.html

There are a lot of choices though1

I'm leaning towards the Chaos Folder with its titanium, G10 handle and tanto blade.

The Isosceles, Sicko and Alphonse are all favorites as well!  Plus, if I were to buy all three..it would cost less than the Chaos!  I don't think I need that many knives though.

Any input on this brand?  Post up your knives or favorites.

www.crawfordknives.com  I have 4 of Pat's custom folders. One of the best knife makers in the business.

www.polkowskiknives.com  I have 2 of Al's fixed blade knives. Great blades.

I like my Columbia River KISS.

Nothing special, but it's lasted me quite some time and I've never had a problem with it.

THANK YOU Rams!!  I saw this brand at the military surplus store today and couldn't remember the name..CRKT.  That brand had a knife which was very similar to the Mantis Chaos but it was in digital camo.  That knife is what got me on this kick.  I do like the one you have though too!

Pat makes a lot of dress knives, but even those are tactically sound blades. If you look around on his site you will see other steel or Ti blades with Micarta handles. The Kasper folder is a killer (no pun) blade. I trained with Bob for a few years.

I have met Pat at a few shows and talked with him on the phone several times when ordering blades. He is a great person, and at a 3 day show (which most of them are). His knives on hand for the show will sell out on Friday.  Wink

If you go to Polkowski's site, you will see Kasper blades there as well. Al made the first blades designed by Bob, but he only makes fixed blade knives, So Bob had Pat make some folders.

both Blur series for the grip tape

one with a rescue blade and one with a get-away-from-me-tweaker pointy blade

I lose them on a monthly bases

http://www.thekershawstore.com/Kershaw_Rescue_Blur_Serrated_p/k1675rdst.htm

right now my pocketses have two hardware store special by Winchester and Leatherman

can anyone explain why I cannot lose the cheapies but the spendy ones are gone in a month?

Hey IZ, check this guys videos out. He has reviews on just about every knife you can think of. He doesn't lean towards any particular company and his reviews are pretty thorough. I watched a lot of them before I started buying.

There are also links to some web sites that sell almost all of the knives he talks about for pretty good prices.

Anyhow, figured I'd pass it along if you're interested.

What'd you say about my Momma?

« Reply #14 on: September 05, 2010, 01:03:56 AM »

Not a fan of the Chaos if meant for a daily carrier.  Too many nooks and crannies to hang up on for a quick draw and tanto blades suck imo (even though I've carried a tanto bladed Emerson for the past 5 years!!)

Check out the Emerson mini's with the wave feature.  I whip mine out on a daily basis.  Used it cutting bait while surfcasting to cutting drywall.

Cool stats and look on the Chaos.
