We have less on the ticker because no one organizes (public) rides much anymore.  I've been out enough via private invite, but I think I can remember one or two rides posted on here the entire year.

Yah, Brian getting t-boned was a bit of a turning point.

As it should have been.  We're lucky he wasn't killed.  And I notice that the guy doing the t-boning is still out there riding--doing group rides, too--or at least posting up about doing them.  He didn't show on the one that I know about.

Hasn't responded to my two PM's since about this time last year.  I haven't tried calling him and haven't been past his house.  I'm sort of a crappy friend.  But I do think/worry about him.  He was still having quite a bit of pain and struggling with some emotional and financial issues as a result of being laid up so long.  Sucks.  Just sucks.

I'd say that ride was the ride that ended all the group rides, and led to a bit of a schism around these parts.

I see "that other group" doing group rides (FaceBook photos mostly), but frankly I'm not interested

I think the schism always existed, lurking in a dark corner...my darling husband drug it into the light, dusted it off and held it up for everyone to see.   Tongue

Well I guess I'll have to actually turn up at a gesit night if I want to see any of you fockers.

'Course the night twisty ride home sort of sucks the fun out of it.

As a mod, I probably shouldn't say this, but despite the fact that that post violated at least 3 out of 5 board guidelines, it rocked.  Only the inclusion of boobies would have improved it (4 out of 5)Evil

Next spring we should dust off the idea of group rides again. I've been on plenty that worked, the key was making sure everyone knew which group to be in, and taking time for a mid-ride critique ("you're following too close", "you're going too fast on the straights") and group switch (i.e. "you belong in the slow/med/fast group")
