queens storm. everyone okay?

Nasty bit of weather we had on thursday. Hope everyone's bikes are okay. Neighbors tree fell on my bike . Well not the whole tree, couple large branches. Bike was parked in parents backyard, as far as damage, left clipon is bent, controls on the leftside just move around freely now, clutch lever bent, the 2 bolts that hold the gauges onto the bike have snaped off clean. I really dont know what other damage there is since I'm no expert in the field. Going to try to talk to the people who own the house next door to pay for damages since we've asked on multiple occassions to prune the damn tree in their yard. Seems the branches hit my parents house first then landed on my bike. I guess if talking doesn't work I'll just have to sue them in court to get the house and the bike fixed. Well be safe everyone and hope everyone's property was unharmed during the storm.

Sorry to hear your bike and house got it.  Before getting into a ruckus with your neighbor speak to someone from your home insurance company.  I ain't no expert on house insurance, but i believe there is sort of a "no fault" on trees, in other words you would be covered by your own policy.  There may be a rather large "high wind" deductible on your policy.  Check that too.

Thank you, i appreciate your input, guess i'll have to look furthur into the laws concerning trees. Just annoyed that we've asked them for the past year to prune the tree and even offered to give them some money towards it. Hope everyone is well and not too badly affected by the storm.

As for the storm, I drove through Queens about 30 minutes after it hit.  Driving through Middle Village was the worst.  Power out for about a 30 block radius, every other street was closed by a tree or power cable or both and grid lock everywhere.  A typical 30 minute drive turned into a 2+ hour ordeal and I'm glad that's the worst I felt of that storm.  I saw some houses and cars that were just destroyed.

around 9, my 20 minute commute, turned into an hour and a half walk over the bridge, after waiting for 30 minutes hoping a train (and then a bus) would come.  they didn't
