SBK Fender good side effects

So I recently installed a 748 fender on my S2R 800 and immediately noticed a cool perk.  The bike is running MUCH cooler.  A noticeable 18 degree drop whether in the day or night.  I did cut 7cm off the back but I can't believe that would cause that.  In any case, couldn't find anything on it on the forum so thought I should say something.  I'll post some pics as soon as I'm done chopping my cans.
