so it seems i have a pick up coil gone bad, the front.. 0 ohms resistance.. 

since i want to do it myself and paint the cover, i was wondering if anyone has done this before and can give me a hand with the timing setting aspects, will compensate with cash and drink and i have a work space to do it in - i want to get it right the first time cos of the oil thing... i've done it on a kawi before.. 

will i need to get a new gasket too?

also wondering if anyone knows of a good new source for the part.. local walk in they want a ridiculous $250 with tax for this. pretty much the same thing was $80 for a kawi.

Can't help ya.  When it comes to coils and pick-ups I just take it to the shop.  Too involved for me.

i want to paint the side cover..  shops don't always like to stop for things like that.. ..  the labour is not that much .. bout an hour or less and that includes the oil change...  just the parts are ridiculous for 80's tech ...

yah.. it can be a messy one.. and.. yes.. it needs to be done perfect....  


this is a frustrating one cos it was intermittent for a while.. took me until the part finally went out to figure out why it was taking so long to warm up... got only 4 good long rides in on it this season so far.. ...it's me summer moto.

funny.. the bike just hit the 6k service mark exact.. i think it's possessed carrie style.. . . it wants room service...

simple and pretty stripped down... any one want to lend a hand or know where i can get the pick ups for a decent price.. i have timing light. and all the gauges and tools.
