The Monster has 700 km on it now. I know, I know, not very much riding, but enough to form an opinion.

Shifting is getting smoother every ride.

The engine power character is very linear with a very flat line of torque which makes it easy to putt along in high gears.

The engine smoothes out completely at 120 kph and the wind blast holds you up in a very comfy position.

Gearing is high, but I like it that way.
It takes a little bit of clutch slipping to get underway. Not for lack of torque, but because gearing is high. I like the way it sounds leaving a stop. I rev it up and slip the clutch out slowly. Engine drones with that Ducati rumble. Especially through the Leo Vince exhaust.

I installed a 1.5 inch riser for the bars. The bar height is now perfect for me. Less forward lean. Aftermarket bar parts from Rizoma (grips) and Pazzo (shorty levers) add to the rider interface.

The Ohlins suspension is sublime. I checked the owners manual and made sure all settings were stock, Then I added 4 cliks compression dampening at the front. The ride is very good in most conditions. Large, sharp edged bumps will bounce me out of the seat. Maybe less rebound in the rear shock?

The sound of this engine, dry clutch and custom exhaust is music to a motor heads ears.

The mirrors are surprisingly good, but kinda weird looking. I am considering the bar end type made by CRG.

I have installed carbon fibre parts all over the place and intend to order several more pieces.

The stock seat slants forward so under braking, your privates are against the tank. This is disconcerting enough that I have ordered what they call a Ducati Performance comfort seat which is raised near the tank junction and has increased padding throughout.

congrats on the new bike

before asking for suspension settings, how much do you weigh?
that will affect the settings a bit

the seat slant isn't so extreme if you sit with your butt back more and squeeze the tank with your legs more especially under braking.

I would like your impressions of the ABS. Have you simulated ermergency stops? Were you surprised at how quickly you could stop?

Post some pics - we'd love to see this beauty.

Sounds like the dreaded Ohlins excess on compression damping. Drat! I thought they'd have sorted this.

Tail tidy is Evo Tech.

when you are hard on the brakes, and not wearing leather pants that grip the tank well...those are called "mashed potatoes"

sbk riders are familiar with "roasted potatoes"

ABS kicked in one time so far on a bit of gravel coming to a stop. Surprised me how well it functions.
This scenario makes me think it will surely be a boon when riding in the rain.
