Yes, 520 is lighter and cheaper.

It also wears out faster.

I guess the main reason is for the bling factor. I know I should get 20k easy on the stocker, but I'd like a better looking rear sprocket, carrier and hub. And while I'm doing that, might as well go for the lighter/cheaper option if not much strength and durability are sacrificed.

If you dont really take care of your chain and arent particularly harsh on your bike, im sure a 520 will do fine. i put 19k on the stock chain, lots of commuting. semi aggressive.

Is that including submersion in garbage?

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Not garbage - lubricating chicken grease. That's why his chain lasted so long [thumbsup]

Hmm! I learnt something, so if I replace my rear 39 tooth with a 41 tooth at my 600mi service, no need to change out the chain. I mean if a chain can last 10 t0 12k miles, 600 miles is a piss in the pond! Now, question is cush drives will the stock ones fit a new carrier? I'm going to go with a quick change combo(sprocket and carrier), thanks and sorry for jacking the thread:)
