Here's what I have:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PIAA-SPARK-8000K-H7-JDM-HID-Xenon-Blue-White-55W-Bulbs_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33710QQihZ024QQitemZ370059988539QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
Not very bright at night since they have a blue tint, but they are cool in the day time. I have a matching running light with a slightly more blue tint. Check out my Flickr page for the running lights. If you want a pic of the lights on, I can snap one for you and post it on my page.
I had these on my R1 for 2 years and now on my S4RS.
Not sure if we use H7, I forgot but you get the point...
Good luck brother.

Wow, those look hella cool!! Light output might be an issue for me at night time though (had a near-miss twice because a cager didn't notice me
), and they seem quite expensive considering an "el cheapo" full HID setup can be bought for about the same price. How is the high beam? Could you also post some pics of those? Thanx a bunch for the info and pics!
p.s. veeeeeery nice bike by the way!!! What kinda fork is that? Ohlins? Or did you anodize it?

Okay here goes, I've been out of the business for a while but this is what I think....
If you are looking at H4 bulbs. You can get the standard Halogen. Halogen is the gas that is inside the glass. Or, get the same bulb filled with Xenon gas. Because of the differences in the gasses the Xenon bulb will be brighter and whiter...
If you are talking H.I.D. (High Intensity Discharge) The light is produced from and arc (think arc welder) not from electricity passing through a wire and making it glow. That's why you need a ballast. The ballast temporarily raises the voltage very high to start the arc. After the arc is established the voltage drops..
So, just because you see Xenon does not automatically mean H.I.D.
Now, to confuse things. A standard H4 bulb will use 55 watts low beam and 60 watts high beam (Those are the numbers I'm not 100% sure on)
You can get replacement (Off-road only of course) bulbs that have an 80 watt high beam, some even 100watt.
So bottom line, check what you are getting. Don't believe the hipe. Those blue coated bulbs, in my opinion, are gonna be losing light compared to the same bulb with no coating.
Confused enough?? I am.
By the by, let me know how the less expensive H.I.D. stuff works, that would be my preference.

I am about to drop $100 bones on a cheapie bi xenon kit. The problem is, do i really need the bixenon? The only difference is the Highbeam featuere is retained,(of course its only the position of the bulb, or a sheild that moves and allows more light to exit). I ride with my high beams on all the time. However i do shut it of if i pull up behind a sedan/coupe full of people, that and i live in NYC where cops give people a hard time for no reason.
The price difffernece on the cheapie kits is $40 bucks. $63 for the HID and $103 for the HID Bixenon. I have duals so i will attempt to install both, however i do not think i ahve the place for 2 HID ballasts, i might jsut end up having 1 xenon to run with the high beam and single H4 halogen for the low beam. So what do you guys think?

Beware. Bi-zenon kits have a much larger bulb assembly. The actuator that moves the shield is behind the reflector, so you may not be able to use it without altering the headlight bucket. No doubt they are all a little different, so YMMV.

Get pods for 80 bucks. Free up a lot of space. hide ballasts there

yea, thats how they make hte money. ebay charges a fee based on the final sale price, not including shipping. And if a customer wants to return it, they can still turnaround a profit. which is why im very picky with making this order, ive sent emails to all my prospective purchases so if shit hits the fan. Im going to get my money back via paypal (buyer bias)
Now as far as pods go, i want them, however, i dont feel like going through fueling issues since my S2R1k has been giving me some surging problems. 87 octane summer heat, and she might hang at 2,000rpms every once in a while, or 3,000 with the clutch pulled in. once i drop to neutral and blip, she'll be fine.
So far its a little bit of surging, something wrong with not being able to start in gear, clutch pulled in (i shut hte bike of at lights), and a nasty oil leak on the valve covers, plus the worn valve guide issues.
