Where did it say that the 1100s is dropped?

I can't believe after a fresh remodel that they are going to drop the monster flagship. I think there will be an 848 Streetfighter, Maybe Ducati is still evaluating the pricing and option list for the "S", hopefully forged wheels and more goodies to make the decision tough between the two.  We'll see in November!

"The biggest, baddest Monster is now the 1100, as the slow selling Ohlins equipped 1100S has been dropped for 2011."

Sad, that news is kinda like a mental smack-down to me.  I guess it's time to snatch up a left over 1100s ABS for a discounted price.

Looks like they blacked out the handlebar on the new Monsters.  Dammit.  That was one thing that bothered me.

well think of it this way from Ducati's perspective. Now they can sell the upgrade kits to new owners and make more money... WAIT... that makes sense ;)

You know it didn't specifically say that the M1100S was discontinued, like it did with the Sport Classics.  The updated models are all now listed on Ducati's website and the M1100S is still there.  So maybe it will still be here for 2011.

Ducatinewstoday reported the 1100S being dropped.
I missed the part of the SC until I saw it was missing from the Ducati website.

I heard the 1100 was getting a modified frame and a slipper clutch, among other changes.

There are no Sport Classics for 2011.  I wonder if the plastic tank issue hastened their demise or if they simply ran out of buyers.  I felt they deserved some updates.  Maybe some tubeless tires, better tanks, upgraded/latest 796 & 1100 engines, and adjustable suspension.

My feeling about the current SC's were special editions of a sort and that they had run their course and will be brought back later with some updated versions.  I would be surprised if they didn't offer an SC version of the mid 90s SS.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I'm sure the frame is the subframe from the 796 which allows the use of the new grab handles.

Could be.  I didn't get a whole lot of detail.

By the way, your bike came out great!

They probably dropped the M1100s to open up a spot for the SF848 [moto]

That would kill Monster sales big time!
