scallops on swingarm are cool.

should be obvious it isn't an actual ducati job as that's certainly not what the 'crates' look like.

unfortunately, this picture shows nothing more than Ducati is following the V-Rod trend.

V-Rod
V-Max
Diavel

I'm sure there are others in this category...

Not my style, but I'm sure they'll sell to a degree.
Maybe enough to give Ducati the cash to bring back the SS and/or ST

Frame looks different than from the previous spy pic, maybe this is a one off custom, not the new Ducati.

I've been trying to figure out what would make it better, for me.

Pull off the plastic bodywork bits from the front, and reshape the tank to look decent without them (as it currently flows into the radiator guard).

Single round headlight up front. Maybe pull a few degrees of rake off the forks...

And get rid of the comically oversized handlebar.

Then it'd look like... well, I guess it'd look a bit like a Monster, really...

Yeah, it looks like an entirely different bike.

Or maybe Ducati have taken the BMW asymmetric thing to The Next Level!

I read somewhere RSD helped design the Diavel and there was a prototype floating around. Maybe what I read was true and may be it wasn't, this looks like it could be that prototype.

strip the fairing crap off the front and redesign the headlight.  I agree with the above, too much V-Rod.  Also, the Vmax is putting out 176 bhp & 114 ft/lbs at the rear wheel according to Ultimate Motorcycling and for me the V-Max still looks better.  This one is too futuristic for me.....at least for now.

In the future, it will be less futuristic.

Monster S2R 800 - ALL BLACK

« Reply #146 on: October 11, 2010, 07:54:57 PM »

I think that prototype bike looks great but it has definitely been reworked by RSD, you can tell by the machining on the parts like the frame slider and wheels for example. It also needs drag bars. It shows potential.

Is it using the 1198 engine?

I'm going to hold my final judgment until I see one in person (hopefully in red), but that thing would be way cooler with an undertail exhaust....

I'd like a 2-1 that wasn't angled upwards quite as much.

or something like the boomtubes/roadracing/exbox "side-shooter" exhaust. I always thought those were neat
