Significant improvements. From 4,000 then to the well known 6,000, now 7,500 on all models except those with the 11-degree Testastretta

Italian styling is spectacular.

unfortunately in this instance, a spectacular failure.

my first thought on seeing it, "Looks like a Buell."

2nd thought, "Where's the rest of the make the beast with two backsing trellis?"

3rd, "IT LOOKS LIKE A make the beast with two backsING BUELL!!!"

pass.

and I still don't like the new monsters. They depart from a lot of the signature styling that attracted me to Ducati in the first place. The "improvements" are anything but.

I guess when in a difficult sales environment you do whatever you have to, to move units, but that makes it no less despicable.

Resisting progress has, for some reason, become the thing to do these days. If the blokes at Ducati only produced what had been produced before and accepted there would be no monster, no SF, no superbikes. Ducati, if they even survived, would be some small mc company in Italy no one had heard of making cafe racers. Better yet The Ducati family would be making condensers and vaccum tubes still. We would all be riding triumphs, or worse, jap bikes.

So don't be so sour. Change means progress and progress is good.

Not to pass judgment on the Diavel, but calling it "progress" ...  Roll Eyes ... There's nothing at all new, progressive, or technologically elite about the concept except the power and the brand cachet.  Not to say it's not going to be good, but let's not act like they're inventing a new market segment here.

Cheers,
Adam

+1  What in any of these pictures reminds you of a Buell?

I see a lot of new V-Max, a little V-Rod, a hint of B-King, all crossed with Streetfighter.

But no Buell.

I agree with you on the V-Max, V-Rod, and Streetfighter.  Don't really see the B-King in there myself and not the Buell either.

Considering this combines the look/feel of two of the bikes I already was looking at I definitely can't wait to get a test ride.

for you nancies that want to know where the rest of the trellis is, you might want to look in the superquadrata rumor thread, the journalists pictures of that bike show... Zero Trellis.

Progress: It requires changes to things that are no longer cutting edge.

I think soon no more trellis on all the Ducati

Too many other bikes have them. it's not so unique anymore.

I'm telling you guys it looks like the M-90 Suzuki.  I could grow to like it if they got rid of that futuristic light bucket sweeping back to the bars, the air intakes (copies of the Vmax) and the radiator covers going to the frame.  They should just make a radiator that fits the frame like others do.  That's my list of this needs to happen.

oops, forgot that bottom cowl.  if they removed that it would look less like the Vrod because it looks to have a similar rake.  I'm all for progress but other than the Motard & new Multi it doesn't seem Ducati is producing anymore "sexy"....not to me at least....your mileage will differ.

I can't wait to find out how well the thing will sell.

I figure it will either bomb completely, or sell like hotcakes.

But knowing my history, now that I've said that, it'll probably do neither.
