12 litres in the S2R1000'
14 to be technically correct - 11 litres than 3 reserve - I rode mine to PI and back for the MotoGP recently (like yesterday).  Got about 20km per litre - which I thought was pretty good!

Back to the Diavel - from initial looks it does look cool - might be a bit comfier to ride to PI as well! Wonder how many litres of fuel it would carry!

Does this mean there would be a Oz Devils site then?  Grin

Agreed the specs state the tank capacity is 14 litres but in fact there is only 12 usable litres. I found this out the hard way a number of years ago on a DML run where I ran out of fuel half way down Mt Keira down here in the gong. Luck it was all down hill except for the last 400 metres to the petrol station. When I filled up the bike only took 12 litres.

20ks per litre is pretty damn good that would mean you would have got around 240ks out of your tank? I personally have got 230ks out of a tank once then again I ran out of fuel 2ks from Bombala. Copped alot shit from my Harley mates but who cares! vomit

Back to topic the Daviel looks pretty hot. As you know alot of Harly owners own Ducati's so I think that the motivation for the model. I personally think its a great concept and if I can have my way with swinging the minister for finance & war I would like to try. I suppose the great question is going to be "What is the cost?"

Looks pretty cool, I'm not into cruisers but I likey, sort of V-Max ish

And I wouldnt mind betting that they have sorted the handling so it does turn and not scrape.

yeah I was stunned too - and I have gone past the 12 litre fill up point too!  I have squeezed out roughly 240km on the trip to the Island - and put in 12.5 litres at one stage - so dont know how dry the tank is - not tempted to run it dry!  Grin

Hopefully the Diavel will have a bigger tank as it would be perfect for cruising to the Island!  Not sure about the big rear when those lovely Vic rains come in though!  Shocked

you just reminded me of one Sir Doohan giving the rides around the PI track on a Honda cruiser - was constantly scraping around the corner of Siberia. Nice work!  [moto]

i think it has a little bit of hint towards the vrod with the head light and tank swoop but even more futuristic looking with the extended swingarm. much like how the buell 1125r didnt look right to me with the massive air inlets, i think its a touch busy/heavy up front for the gap it has between the rear tyre and guard.

if they somehow closed in the rear wheel to guard gap it would look more full like a traditional cruiser but then i spose it would look like every other cruiser wouldnt it!?! originality lost.. ill have to see it in person to decide if i like or not.

i certainly hope they put a decent size tank on it. my parents cruisers are both lucky to get 250kms out of a tank. while i dont really wanna do much more than that in one sitting i would prefer the option be mine as the rider as opposed to my destination/route being limited by my tank size. that problem is made worse when u live in the country.

Uh-oh ... what's going on here?

Copied from the main board ... its kinda relevant, but I can't be bothered changing the context:

Some of the arguments on here are hilarious. I mean you are all trying to rationalise this bike and its design. How rational a decision is it to buy a Ducati (of any form) ... and you all have them already.

Ducati have made many bikes I don't like and many more I would never own ... its no big deal.

The 'new' Monster I didn't like in photos, didn't mind it when I saw one in person, liked it less when I rode one. But I am wedded to the 'old-style'. Streetfighter I didn't like in photos, saw it differently in the 'flesh', attraction appreciated exponentially when I rode one.

Although I should have read this thread before posting in the 'what should they have done' thread. I don't mind the look, in fact ... it looks more like a Monster than the (current) Monster to me. But you need to ignore all that bulk up top/front.

As for the ride experience who the hell knows. I can guarantee that if you can 'really' ride you would be able to outride me on that bike regardless of what I am on so it is kinda irrelevant. 'Most' people, despite what they say do not corner hard and ride hard between corners ... this will probably be perfect for 'most' people.

I like it more than I thought I would.

However I sat on the new 796 Hypermotard yesterday and I'm now wondering how I can increase fuel storage on one  Shocked

Found you a solution:

Personally I think I'd prefer the Cycleworks option (and the dollar is good at the moment):

watching the install video for that tank makes me think its quite a lot more effort to change the air filter on the hm compared to our simple monsters!!

mate dont give up wear them down!  Plus I dont tell the minister - things just happen to turn up in my shed! waytogo  She didnt know about my Monster until I was leaving in the morning with a bike trailer on the back of the car to pick it up!  laughingdp

Mind you I think a Diavel would break the tenous thread in that aspect - admittedly she has put up with my foolishness in regards to toys, both two and four wheel varieties!

It does have appeal - better start buying those x-lotto tickets!  Grin
