D.C. Drivers Rank high in curteous driving?

According to a survey D.C. Metro is the 6th most courteous drivers in major US metro areas... i dunno what drugs those people doing the testing were using, but man. Even worse is that Baltimore was rated even better...

That is ironic, but they're not rating the same criteria.  One was based on the likelihood and frequency of auto accidents of DC proper.  The other was a phone survey (who volunteered to call whom?) about general road rage in the whole DC metro area, which likely includes people commuting on smaller roads who don't get as frustrated as those on farther, longer, or more congested routes.

Obviously they didn't talk to the dump truck driver and the car driver who were both charged with attempt murder/ADW a few months back for trying to kill each other on 95... Truck driver was cited for using the truck as the weapon, car driver emptied a magazine from a handgun

I've done that before...when I was taking a new rifle home one day from Atlantic...never had more courtious drivers around me in Rockville...the guys in the shop were funny about finding me the best strap/rig for it to get it home when I showed up on the bike too....

wow that may be the ultimate way to finally get motorists to notice you and not tailgate all the time.

i guess a pistolgrip shotgun with the shells on top would work best for visual affect, but then again i guess something like an ak-47 with an empty magazine taped to the stock would probably work equally as well, since both weapons are mostly seen in Movies most people would recognize both easier than say an uzi.. ok maybe most people would recognize uzis just as well from all the late 90s movies

It's legal in VA to "transport" any firearm (even machine guns if properly registered with state police). However, the state allows individual municipalities to set their own ordinances about carrying loaded shotguns or rifles. FWIW, the gun in the picture is a Mossberg and is manufactured without a butt. So it's not "sawed-off".

that is the point you woudn't load it, afterall i don't think many people think and see "ok its not loaded let me mess with him".

I remember going out to shoot at Blue Ridge Arsenal a long time ago and getting some looks from people on the beltway making my way around to VA. I had 2 pistol cases and 1 ammo can and a gear bag strapped to my Ventura rack. It was kinda obvious what everything was, and in MD it was like OMFG looks from drivers. In VA, it was more like "Oh, take note and just keep rolling"....BTW...at one point, as a general note from that trip, ear plugs and a helmet just aren't as good at noise suppression and comfort at the range while shooting in comparo to glasses and full ear muffs.

In VA it is 100% LEGAL to carry a rifle or shotgun on a sling on your back.  The law does not distinguish between a pistol and a rifle/shotgun regarding open carry. 

You cannot carry it in YOUR HANDS.  This is "Brandishing" and will get you charged.

However, just because it's legal (to wear a longarm), doesn't mean you won't get stopped and get chatted with by the popo.

you may want to specifically cite the statute....I have never seen ANY statute that says it is legal to transport a firearm loaded...what you started out with, if it is quoting from somewhere, doesn't say "loaded" in it if it was a piece that you copied and pasted...
