¿Alcantara?
«

Has anyone re skinned a seat with Alcantara, or know if any company makes a seat with this material? Would it be any good for a moto seat? It sure looks good against carbon in cars... Thanks for any ideas.

Is it grabby, i.e., does it impede your ability to slide across the seat?

I'm feeling a bit lazy so I'm not gonna go look for it, but I seem to remember a company making an aftermarket monster seat done in Alcantara.
I was thinking about buying one, but couldn't justify spending what they wanted for it. Especially since I couldn't find anybody who had tried one to tell me whether it was comfortable or not.

I have Alcantara in my car - it is a nice fabric for interiors but it is not water repellent
It actually soaks water up - would not recommend for a moto seat unless you can guarantee that it would never see rain/water

and one would have to remember that they use solvents/liquids around or on the bike frequently. Think of gas, plexxus, brake fluid, etc that you would normally wipe off of your seat would now soak in / stain

There's a chap on the Isle of Man called Ade Critten who remodel's seats using alcantara, if you look on the MV Agusta owners website and search the threads you'll find lots of pics of his handy work...
He can be contacted at:-
