It would fit just fine if I chope the top of the fork tube like an inch
but I dont know if there would be enough thread left to lock tight the cap. and how much it would change the riging position.

Are those forks actually from a Supersport? IIRC, those forks were longer.

The fork tube itself of an S2R1000 has the same part # as the (desmoquatro) S4R fork tube.
Internally they're different though. How that relates to the length issues is beyond me.

Matris in Italy, MatrisUSA and CarpiMoto don't mention a cartridge for the S2R1000.
However, I think they all list the F05R for the S4R (which year and edition is unclear to me)

If it doesn't fit OR in fact is made for your bike - money back should be no problem (?)

How are they different internally?  i thought the difference between the S4R and S2R1000 forks were just the lining on the stanchion.

All S4R models are the same were they not? Radial brakes were only featured on the Testastretta Monsters. not the DEsmoquattros.

Correct. Only on S4Rt and S4RS - noting that the 999's only got radial brakes on the later years as well

Well if these arent for the S4R, then its not for a ducati. because every other fork design is longer, except for the non adjustables, wich have a different size bolt holding the cartrdige in place.

..................

Don't know. I'm just observing different internal part numbers.

Well if these arent for the S4R, ..............

I think they are (, but not for the S2R1000)

Part numbers hardly mean anything. The clutch pack for ducati are different models for various models, but they all fit each other. i think they do it just to keep track of manufacturers, dates, where they come from etc.

FYI, the only 999's that had radial brakes also had ohlins forks (749r/999s/999r)

All 43mm Monster Adjustable Showas are essentially the same internally, other than:
Different springs, different valving depending on a lot of things.

Desmoquattro S4 and S4R forks are essentially the same, other than S4R have TiN coating.

M900 and S2R1k forks have the dual-rate springs.
Valving is different too.

-----------EDIT------------------

S4Rt Showas with the radial mount calipers may be different internally.

Well,

I still cannot understand why the Matris cartridges that fit the S4R cannot fit the forks of the S2R 1000 since they seem to be exactly the same minus the TIN coating on the stanchions.

That said, I think we need to verify that you actually received the correct fork cartridges for the S4R and that some Italian wasn't drinking the vino when he boxed yours up.

If they are correct, then perhaps it is time to talk to Jason at DOS (if he is still alive), or MonsterMash, or perhaps to purchase S4R forks to place them inside.

I wish I was more familiar with Matris cartridges, or suspension internals in general, but at least I'm working on the latter as me and my parts manager will be attending a 2 day technical training at Bitubo's headquarters this November.

Where did they come from?

Matris hasn't even told me about that happening... perhaps you could call them?
